Y'all really got a pole like strippers?
Depends on the station. Most of the newer ones built in the last 50 years are single story. Older ones built back when they had horse drawn fire trucks are 2 or 3 stories with poles. We have stations in my dept that are 100+ years old
How do you deal with the trauma that comes with being a firefighter?
I go into every call with the mentality that I am doing my best to help the situation and whatever happens is beyond my control
Do your legs all touch each other when you all sitting in that cramped section of the fire truck?

:dame:
The older engines are pretty cramped, so it be like that

Newer ones are spacious enough to lay down in
How often do you actually get called out to a fire?
Depends on the season and area I’m working in…fall & winter is always busy. If I’m in the inner city, I’ve had days where its 2-3 fires in one shift

Arson is a big problem cuz we have a lot of bandos

have u been legit scared while working?
1. At a shooting scene when more shots rang out from down the block as we were treating a patient. Crazy night

2. Lost my orientation briefly while searching for
Victims in an house fire. Pitch black, 500 degree heat…hoarder house so everything was jam packed to the ceiling. Ended up bumping into another crew of FFs and they got me to the door
What’s the craziest reason you’ve been called to a fire or an emergency situation?

Stubbed toe…paper cut..seasonal allergies

Tell the coli the truth. Firefighters don't "run" into burning buildings. They crawl. :dame:

While holding onto the leg of the man in front of them. :dame:

Now isn't that right?
Depends on the what the conditions are…it’s some fires I’ve been on my stomach cuz the coolest place was the floor. Others I could stand straight up (I’m 6’2) and the heat was tolerable
How hard was your fitness test?
How many other black people do you work with?
Have you ever seen someone burned to death?
The preliminary fitness test was a cakewalk
actual fire academy? Brutal..hardest 6 months of my life but it was fun and I was in the best shape of my life.

Depends on the station and shift. Some days were the majority, other times I’m the only one out of 10 people. My crew is pretty diverse…we’re all tight and hang out outside of work

Multiple times unfortunately. Not a pleasant sight
