That’s what more then likely happened. People forget this was the pre internet world. It was easier back then to reinvent yourself without people knowing about your past. I’ve seen it happen personally on a street level where snitches would come thru the city out of nowhere with a new identity and be one of the hottest nikkas in the streets but are really double agents on the low. Same thing with this. But Hot 97 gotta speak on this without the management politically correct bullshyt. It’s crazy because Paddy was Angie’s sidekick on Hot during the 90’s and early 00’s, before he got a behind the scenes job there. I remember all the artists would shout his name out when they would do promos for Angie’s show and the station. But again I’m not surprised. As someone who grew up in the Tri-State area, was 12 years old when the Yusuf Hawkin’s incident happened, and has had certain dealings with Italians in passing, a lot of them don’t fukk with us at all. They may love our music but that never meant shyt. A lot of them have a deep hatred for us. Always have. So I never understood us always trying to follow behind them.Truth is, he probably laid way low... got him a job at the station years later and nobody even thought about it, except for those who knew who he was. I doubt dude was randomly bringin' it up and letting people know about it. If he was THE guy being pointed at in the murder, they probably woulda remembered who he was, but if he's just up there goin' by "Paddy Duke" and nobody remembers him from the Hawkins murder cause he was just one of the kids with bats... I can see how he could be low-profile without these artists or personalities knowing.
But yeah, now that this is out, somebody gotta address it. NOT saying anything about it means A) they tryin' to keep it buried, or B) they're bein' "influenced" not to say anything about it.
