Probably the safest job in the league.

Tomlin ain't going anywhere unless they start missing the postseason yearly (a good 2-3 season drought). As long as he's able to produce 9-10 win seasons and make 1-and-dones in the postseason.

Otherwise, the only way he's gone is if he wants out.
There’s a push to get him out of there, I’m not sure he survives

Eagles and Cowboys are ready to run their coaches out of town and the Patriots ran the GOAT out of town.

I can't believe the once mighty Steelers are accepting of 3 playoff wins since 2011 and their defense being outscored 56-0 in the first quarter of their last 4 playoff games.

It's time for a change for both sides.

He should consider wanting out.

If we assumed the Steelers job was open, where would it rank compared to all open jobs?

No Franchise QB (in a division with Burrow/Lamar), no top pick, i don't think they have a ton of cap space.

They have some nice pieces but the team as is has a low ceiling.

Out of the seven teams looking for a new coach and if you add Pittsburgh to the mix that's eight so I'd say they're somewhat in that 5-8 range in terms of desirability.

They're a decent team, so they may still make the playoffs without Tomlin but the thing is that Tomlin instilled a certain culture in the locker room that has gotten the best out of the players which makes it hard to say how bad they'd be without him at the helm.

If Pittsburgh is committed or aspires to tank for the next few seasons, I don't think they'd be able to do that with Tomlin as the coach because he's not going to be in line with tanking.

Only way he's gone is if he wants out or the ownership and him come to an agreement to part ways minus the “firing” headline similar to how the Pats did with Belichick.

The only positive is that you keep the job for life.

I would personally trade watt for 2 first round picks and start a huge rebuild

If I'm Tomlin, what else is there to prove? You've won your SB, been to two. It's not worth the stress anymore. Get Amazon to pay you a bag to be a broadcaster and enjoy life.

IMO, Tomlin still has meat on the bone as a coach. A good motivation for him would be the ability to build a program in his image.

Does Tomlin have any influence in the Steelers organization outside of being the head coach?

What stress? There seems to be no pressure to do anything but make it to the playoffs. Even getting embarrassed is okay. Tomlin like Belicheck strikes me as a guy stuck in his ways. Sure his ways may be good enough to still win games. But is your stubborness also a liability that will keep you from winning championships?

I wouldnt hire either if they wanted to much power on all fronts.

NFL head coach is an 80-90 hour a week, 11 month a year job. It's a lot. At some point, don't you want to live your life?

Steelers need to take more risks to get a QB. They are wasting Tomlin/Watt/etc. They should also be willing to eat a bad season / true rebuild.

This was a bad season for the Steelers. They benched Trubisky/Pickett and fired the OC. That is dysfunction.

They also need to figure something long-term out at OC. It'll always be tough filling the OC spot since Tomlin doesn't call offensive plays and OCs tend to get poached.
This is it

They HAVE to get a QB and an Offensive Coordinator

Tomlin can't come back next year with Pickett the Steelers blew the pick I'm sorry

All that homegrown "The kid went to Pitt" shyt the Steelers blew it on him

Harbaugh bout to go to the Chargers and put a battery in Justin Herbert's back. The AFC is loaded with QBs

I highly doubt hes puttimg that much time in:mjlol:. And if he is,he has the option to work smarter not harder, because clearly harder aint winning chips. People spend their freetime building franchises on Madden for free for fun. Some coach football proffessionally and get paid millions of dollars to do so.

They got so paranoid about missing out and n Dan Marino that they let it influence their decision IMO but it was a wash anyway because the would have just taken the other dude and he’s been basically a bust also.

IMHO this is a team that is only an OC and QB away from being a serious contender. That defense is stacked, Pickens is a true number 1 WR, Johnson is a number 2, Muth is a good TE, Harris and Warren are a great 1/2 punch, this team is borderline great but that offense is holding it back.

Just a serviceable QB would have this team moving that’s why bum ass Rudolph did what he did toward the end of the season. Look at Mayfield and Tampa Bay, put Cousins or even Wilson on this squad for a couple years and they making noise. I would rather them grab a veteran until they find the young QB
