Raps need a PF, and Ross fukking sucks, if he had any semblance of offense you could probably move Demar and start Johnson, but Ross shows zero signs of expanding his game.
Losing a player like Derozan who recovers a lot of loose balls, gets rebounds late in games, and generally doesn't turn the ball over much is a blow. Also, his defence this year has been better (which is to say, it's not a liability). In fact, it's Derozan's scoring that has been lacking the most this year.
But it's clear that the Raptors are missing him now on multiple levels. Having a guy that can collapse the defence, get to the line, and get easy buckets for himself is huge, especially when the only other guy on the team who can do that is Lowry. That means the entire team has to work harder. If the entire team has to work harder then you start to make bad decisions, your rotations are half a step slow, you don't fight for those extra rebounds. There is a huge trickle down effect to losing your best scorer (and a good rebounder) when nobody else on the team can create their own offence as well.
The Raptors have been overwhelmed the past week and a half because they're turning the ball over so much. They're turning the ball over because Lowry and others are being asked to do too much. Derozan definitely relieve the pressure and make teams have to defend more than one player off the dribble. Reduce the turnovers and we beat four of the five teams we've recently lost to.
Let's see what this team looks after the all-star break. If they still look like this after being rested and with a health Derozan then yeah, time to sound the alarm.
With that being said, this team is still a big piece away from being a legitimate contender. I predict a second round exit this year.

Lmao @ using Derozan being out as an excuse. Yea, we sure missed his 41% shooting out there.
Teams need to account for him. Now they only have to keep Lowry out of the lane and keep the three point line guarded. Teams are doing a very simple thing against us lately. They're taking away the corner three, and forcing Lowry to the free-throw line and then crowding him, but only enough that they can still recover to the wings. With Derozan they couldn't do this because he'd be able to get to the rim with defenders running at him, something that the rest of our wings struggle with.Lmao @ using Derozan being out as an excuse. Yea its a terrible excuse, your losing to 13-25 teams at home...Your up 12 at halftime..
You have so many defensive issues and your getting nothing from 2 starting positions,it has zero to do with missing Demar...
He isnt going to save this team from wide open jumpers and drives being given up...
The Pistons record isn't indicative of how good they are right now though so I wouldn't really highlight that, they're 9-1 in their last 10 and had a legit chance of beating the Hawks.
When Derozan comes back, you guys will see what I'm saying. If not, you can up this post and have a field day with me.
We were up 12 at the half...We dominated the first quarter...
We did our usual 3rd quarter p*ssy footin and tried to play D in the last 5 mins...Any elite/good team would have put this team away in the 3rd....Despite Jeninngs we had our foot on there neck...
This team routinely plays 24 mins and has gotten away with it early in the season, and it has a bad habit of coming up shytty in 3rd quarter and blowing leads...this aint about Detroit its about us...
They played alright but we gave them every opportunity to do it....You cant just turn it on in the last 5 mins and this team keeps trying to do that...
Nah, they are good right now, the Hawks were up by 17 @ the half on them and they still came back and had a chance to tie it at the end, they are playing extremely well right now and losing to them isn't really an indication that something is wrong.

Our big men can't make a mid-range jumper either. If they could, then the defense teams have been playing against us wouldn't work.
