Pokemon was the shyt when i was younger and used to play against my friends at school but the social aspect of it died over a decade ago for me. i know like one other person my age that plays it and they live in another state.

its a social game. the whole premise of the game is play against your friends. the last Pokemon i played was Pearl and i played it alone and beat the game then sat it down and never touched it again. back when Yellow came out i used to play against actual people i knew with a link cable physically in their presence. it was a whole different experience than playing it alone.

it was a blast talking shyt to friends and constructing teams to defeat their teams. there were real in-person rivalries.

Pokemon isn't fun as a single player solo game. its built from the ground up to be social.

I agree with you 100%. I had Pokemon Pearl and it got stale real fast after I beat the game mainly I didn't have anyone to battle or trade with. For whatever reason, Nintendo Wi-Fi sucked and I couldn't connect, so online play wasn't an option. I ended up selling my DS and game because Pokemon was the only game I wanted to play.

However, there should be better online support with X/Y so you'll never feel "alone" playing it. You'll never be able to recreate that feeling back in the day but they'll be plenty of rivalries on here once the game drops.
