The option is there in case you caught one with a shytty nature or at a lower/higher level than you want after searching around/playing the game more. No reason for keeping duplicates, might just need em for breeding and that's it. Regardless for one's reasoning of releasing a pokemon, there's no reason to lose the ball you caught it in.

-Every gym leader should have 6 pokemon, no exception

-Upon "beating" the game, you should receive random challenges from trainers

-Here's one I've thought about, there should be an option to either keep the battle system they've got now or use a system built around the speed of your decision making and/or pokemon. Kinda like Chrono Trigger had...
