Finally got around to finishing this

I can’t remember the last time a game gave me so many high highs and low lows, I went from being blown away by some of the most epic gaming moments ever to being insanely bored a number of times, this game is so wildly inconsistent.

I see it’s been discussed to death in here but I’ll give my 2 cents anyway, yes fetch quests are a staple of open world games, but it’s the surrounding story of them and their circumstances that can make them great, most of them on this game are just fukking dull and pointless, i won’t compare it to FF7 remake because that games sidequests were also terrible (mostly everything else was great)

For a final fantasy game, the enemy variety is lacking

Also, what is the point in most of the weapons? A lot of the crafting ect feels tacked on to make it feel more RPG when it literally doesn’t need to be, I don’t think I even spoke to 90% of the merchants I came across

But..when the story is focused, and it’s not doing it’s best imitation of FF14’s main scenario where I have to run around doing pointless shyt and talking to countless npc’s, it’s a really good story with some well written characters, along with fun combat, great graphics and some excellent voice acting and music

7.5/10

I love this game but the pacing is god awful at times. You go from such a peak as the Titan fight for the next hour to be a bunch of fetch quests that kill any momentum or excitement in the game.
This was the exact moment I put the game down for a few weeks, the 2-3 hours that follow the titan fight is the worst section of the entire game

My biggest complaint is the lack of a proper endgame dungeon, they just drop you off at the boss fight. The waloed castle felt like a reskin of previous areas. A crystal palace/meteor Crater type dungeon before the final boss woulda been great… maybe they ran out of budget or time :(

This. In most JRPGs getting to a new town or area with a merchant is always exciting as you expect there to be new/better weapons. In this? After the first few hours I realized none of it mattered and you can breeze through the game without hardly ever worrying about weapons.

There's a good template here that they can improve upon so I hope they don't just abandon this gameplay design and completely change it. Just add different weapons and play styles, status ailments that matter, more enemy variety, less "hallway" FF13-esque areas and make the core more JRPG in feeling.

It bothers me knowing that despite me not liking FFXV that much, it at least still felt more like a JRPG.

While on the subject…what’s the actual point in money in this game? Lol

I finished at 45 hours and I can honestly say that this game started off at 10, those first few hours was incredible.

Then the pacing is inconsistent, I found my self bored to tears in between getting to the next major story arc.

It’s like someone said in here earlier, they should have cut this game down to about 25-30 hours. Because the main story was very good but It was just too much obvious filler inbetween. The RPG elements were tacked on with little to no effort and creativity.

The voice acting was great and the graphics were excellent and I really enjoyed the boss fights. 8/10

The section between Clive going back to the Hideout after defeating Hugo Kupka and collecting the ingredients needed for the ship Mid wants to build should not have even been in the game. Like wtf was the point of that? shyt was so damn boring. It felt like a forced sidequest just to have something going on between the next story beat.
