Naw, it’s literally bloat the game. They turned a 5 hour section of the original game into a 30 and its worse off for it
Disagree breh. It being "bloated" would only make sense if it was one complete remake with everything in one game. Instead FFVIIR is just one seperate game that feel like it has a proper "ending" to it when looked at it as it's own game. To a purist that just wants to get out of Midgar and see the rest I can see why they say that but I never felt like any of the things you mentioned were a drag.

Also, pacing? The only place in FFVIIR that can be seen as a "drag" was chapter 8 in the slums. Other than that FFVIIR was paced very nicely, maybe again for a purist they can see it's dragging along.

It would be like if FFXVI was remade and they made entire hours worth of content of the years between when Clive was captured as a teen to him as an adult.

There’s a lot of backtracking in FF7R, which are mostly hallways. there’s also not one memorable sidequest during the entire game and theres like 30 of them.

Everything that doesn’t follow along the main storyline of the original game just feels like a huge dip in quality, writing and world building wise. I dont feel like i knew much more about midgar after a 30 hour game taking place in the city than i did with just spending 4 hours there in the original thats how bad the padding is in it. They added nothing substantial or exciting to the lore of FF7 with all the time they had with this game

(i did like the shinra video on what the ancient world possibly looked like though)

Let’s not even get started on the whispers

Remake is way more fun and enjoyable than 16. It’s not comparable. You have nothing but people saying the combat is way too easy in 16.

Many people have complained they only focused on the story over everything else.

I had no doubt in my mind that I was going to play Remake right back, I even played 15 again (I had the time to), but I was not gonna play 16 again, and definitely wasn’t after that damn ending.

I have no idea how they’re going to do the story in Remake, but so far I enjoyed it more than that sad ass story 16 has.

If you like sad ass stories you’ll love 16. I like more enjoyable stories.

The combat in Remake is so much better it’s not even funny.

The acting and the side quests were better in 16, but that’s about it.

I didn’t mind the acting in Remake, so it doesn’t matter to me either way.

And while the side quests are better, they mostly were the same, hunt this, get my items, etc.

The only thing better is that they told a story.

There are no mini games, no tournaments, etc. there are no reasons to go to the towns for anything because they’re just literally there to be there.

Remake has a better overall cast than 16 too.

The biggest thing is that Remake didn’t feel like a complete waste of time to me.

I hope that the rest of the Remake games have good stories and don’t try to change much.

shyt was Blassic :umad:

4/10??
That Tale of arises caca really? :camby:
It was very close to a 10, but the ending is that bad.

Some people like endings like that, that’s cool.

To me, the ending makes or breaks a game.

I put so much work in this game and actually enjoyed it.

I think that I spent the most time I have ever had in a game on a first play through.

Yakuza 5 might have taken longer, but it had a good ending.

I didn’t feel any type of payoff with 16 at all, I felt like I would have been better off just doing the main missions in the stories.

While the side quests stories were good, I honestly don’t give a shyt after beating the game.

Huge waste of time.

And Arise has a better ending than 16 too.

That ending really did a number on you, huh?

There’s a lot of backtracking in FF7R, which are mostly hallways. there’s also not one memorable sidequest during the entire game and theres like 30 of them.

That's because the character important stuff isn't broken off from the game and handled in the main story. FF16 has you do pointless side quest to be allowed to do more side quest that eventually gets you to the side quest of significance that really only matters if you happen to care or even remember the character it's associated with.

And back tracking isn't the problem.
Everything that doesn’t follow along the main storyline of the original game just feels like a huge dip in quality, writing and world building wise. This is completely false also, Biggs wedge and jessie are all VASTLY more fleshed out, and without having to do 10 hours of side quest to see it.
Saying they added nothing substantial then saying "don't get me started on the whispers" is wild. That alone is HUGE
