content aside it was still trash

just looked amazing
I wouldn't call it trash. It's a decent effort but it could have been much better. The gameplay in the open world section is fine it's just that when the story becomes the focus everything falls apart.

the gameplay sucks straight up

great animations, but an utter mess of an overall battle setup

I enjoyed it very much. The travel system was poorly done, the story could have used more texture, and it has pacing issues but I really liked it.

Totally understand what my friends meant when they said to make sure I play this BEFORE Tales of Berseria and Persona 5 though. They're both just superior experiences.

As a long time ff fan who played a nice chunk of early ones (4,5,6,7,8,10) i gotta say this shyt right here is what i use to daydream about when exploring the towns and castles of 4,5,6 om the snes. The graphics are amazing, the combat system is great, i love that theres a lot of classic enemies here as well like imps, fire puffballs, slime, griffins etc, Chocobo riding, EPIC summonses...everything thst makes FF great. This shyt is the way ff needs to be now, and i really hope they remake 4 and 6 the way they are remaking 7. Those are two of the best plots in any rpg ever and it would be EPIC to see it like this game

Now the game def aint perfect, controls are clunky at times and the story sucks. Im on chapter 6 (lvl 35) and theres nothing engaging about it at all. A lot of epic moments so far with titan and ramuh but im not expecting much story wise im just glad they took a step in the right direction

I think i liked this more than most people did:yeshrug:
It was a solid game but at the same time playing through it I felt like I noticed more the ways it could have been a great game rather than just an acceptable one.

Some games like Persona 5 are flawed but those flaws ultimately don't diminish the experience that much and some games like this one are flawed and those flaws really hurt the game. I can see the framework for an exceptional game burred in all the stuff they cut and reduced in scope.
