With the exception of the last three films I listed I like but are overhyped to ME.

Full Metal Jacket. I served in the Marines and although a lot of the boot camp scenes were similar to what I experienced but I just personally never felt the connection like most people do with it. I prefer Platoon over it when it comes to Vietnam War movies.

Casino. Never really got the hype.

Goodfellas

The Matrix

Star Trek 2

Every Pixar movie except Toy Story and The Incredibles.

All the Lord of The Rings and Hobbit movies

All the Harry Potter movies

All the Pirates of the Caribbean movies

Is Escape from NY considered classic? Watched that the other night and was nodding off :yeshrug:

Behind You
We may have done something like this before, but @Zero and @Jello Biafra mentioned two horror classics they don’t like, so they’re the inspiration for this.

What classic movies or beloved flicks are you just not a fan of? Judgement free zone of course so this is the place for you to say you don’t like this thing everyone here or the world seems to adore.

I’ll start :jawalrus:

Not a big fan of:

The original Fright Night (prefer the remake actually)
Requiem for a dream (feels way too on the nose)
Casino (lesser version of Goodfellas)
Pretty in Pink
Christine
The majority of the Friday the 13th series :hubie:
Since I am one of the inspirations for this post I guess it is only right I participate.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • I get it's place in the pantheon of horror but it is a chaotic, mindless assault on the senses with a villain that is basically just a fat drag queen with down syndrome
Fight Club
  • A pretentious mess of a movie that serves as a love letter to white male aggression without any irony at all
Every Woody Allen movie ever made except for Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)
  • Woody Allen has always bee a one trick pony who caters to the narrowest of narrow target audiences
Scarface
  • An absolute clown car of a movie that features some of the worst acting by good actors I have ever seen in my life
There Will Be Blood
  • A great performance by Daniel Day Lewis did not make this dry ass movie anything more than a dry ass movie with a great acting performance in it

Ali
  • Will Smith did a mediocre Muhammad Ali impression in an overrated docu-drama that was worse than any of the joints that VH-1 (like The Jacksons and the temptations) used to crank out on the regular

I tried three times and Blade Runner isn't it chief.
Fight Club (Patrice explained it best)
The Lord of the Rings (saw the first one, didn't like it so I didn't proceed)
Halloween
Ghost In The Shell (the anime)
Poetic Justice
Jerry McGuire (but I think because I watched it for the first time so late, it suffered a little IMO)
Hateful Eight
Smokin' Aces

I plan on watching a lot of "classic" Black movies next year and I may guarantee I will add more onto this list :lupe:

A couple cats on this forum got that movie ranked in their top 10 greatest of all time. Actually if memory serves correct op gots it ranked up there. :francis:

I sure do. But did I say it’s on the same level as The Godfather? Cause that’s what you said. It can be one of the best flicks ever while not being on the level of the greatest flick ever. That’s why it’s not my number one all time but Godfather is. Don’t hustle me:russ:

Gravity and Interstellar were crazy overrated. I still don't know how some movies seem to get this real early hype like that
