I see a oscar prediction groups giving love to compton and not creed :mjpls:

Creed is 15x the movie compton is
:whoa:

Lets not go that far.

I've said it before the first 2/3's of that movie is damn near perfection. The 3rd act is where it fell off.

It is odd that something uplifting like Creed is being dismissed :patrice:

Low key....Beasts of No Nation is a movie I'm shocked not's getting any oscar love.

breh its gotten award love so far. don't be surprised if the prognosticators are wrong and it gets some nods. we got a week or a week and a half until the noms come out.

I don't think Creed is being dismissed as much as its a crowded ass field this year

One thing you gotta keep in mind about Compton is that a lot of us got pulled out of the movie because we saw right through those Dre-tales. Most awards voters probably have no clue that the third act of Compton rewrote history in the absolute worst way. And of course the awards voters love to gravitate towards "true stories" regardless of how inaccurate they may be.

I honestly thought Compton's shot to get a nod were dead once Dee Barnes story hit :yeshrug:

I'm sure they know, but dont care :manny:

Sometimes Hollywood doesn't care about :duck:in films

Nah Dre and the studio came out with the apology QUICK. like they were so far in front of it that it drowned her out, which was the right thing to do from a PR standpoint. He's still bytch made but he's at least smart

ah thats my b for not reading it and being only half awake :russ: BUT, I do have a question though, how do we mark or classify a black film? Majority black cast or subject matter because I don't really see Creed as a black film as much as I see it as a Rocky film and Rocky movies encompass everything to me, even the bad ones

Black Majority film and Creed certainly fits that bill.

Dr Dre put the beats on more nikkas than Adonis did the entire movie:mjlol:

You mean St. Dre. that's my ONE big issue with that movie. Dr. Dre was a patron saint man, he never did nothing to nobody ever. He was on the side of the angel's and was incorruptible. All praises due to St. Dre

I agree. I picked Compton though. It was more entertaining for me. I thought the cast did really well, and the movie was engaging.

Creed was predictable IMO. It was still good, but it's not something I would buy or even watch again unless it's on HBO or something (which I don't have so, that would never happen). I thought everyone was overrating the movie when it first came out.

I actually liked dope in respect to the best black movie of the year. :yeshrug:

I guess there could be something I missed...

Creed is trash. All that buildup and he ends up getting his ass beat like rocky.

If Dre had just owned it..and went into the details of abuse..

I think it'd be a lock for a nod. He still could have had his "redemption" at the end with his wife. But we got Easy's flaws, but none of Dre's and that was disappointing.
