I remember when Compton came out that some were calling it a classi.? Now, I'm hearing the same thing about Creed. So which is the better Black film?

I haven't seen SOC yet (was supposed to. Just gonna wait until it's out on bluray)

But Creed should be considered a classic. Both as a boxing movie and as a Rocky movie.

Was going to make a thread about which film gets a Best pic nod.

Too bad it can't be both :mjpls:

However, both THR and Variety are predicting Straight Outta Compton to get in over Creed

Out of the two: Creed. Michael B Jordan had to carry the film as the star and he did it really well. Got to salute Coogler, Sly and Tessa Thompson's fine ass too. The Boy Wallace all grown up now :mjcry:

Straight Outta Compton was dope though. Loved the :krs:factor of seeing so many legendary moments on the screen. Even though the Doc (tor Dre) Tales, got a little outlandish.

Really rated the cat who played Eazy, I'd like to see him in more stuff.

And while we're at it - Big up Rick Famuyiwa for 'Dope' too.

Mad max is classified as a black film?

ah thats my b for not reading it and being only half awake :russ: BUT, I do have a question though, how do we mark or classify a black film? Majority black cast or subject matter because I don't really see Creed as a black film as much as I see it as a Rocky film and Rocky movies encompass everything to me, even the bad ones

That's a good question that will return different answers from different people.
