Fifth ‘Matrix’ Movie in Development, Drew Goddard to Write & Direct

The Martian Adapted Screenplay nominee and The Cabin in the Woods filmmaker Drew Goddard has been set to write and direct a new Matrix movie at Warner Bros. with the franchise’s original co-scribe and co-director Lana Wachowski executive producing.

It’s still early days in regards to whether core castmembers Keanu Reeves, Carrie Anne-Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Hugo Weaving, and Jada Pinkett Smith are coming back.

Goddard will produce with partner Sarah Esberg (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) via their Goddard Textiles banner.

nah, Lana only did it because WB said they were making it whether they were involved or not. So she wrote a script shytting on a studio forcing creatives to make another entry even though they didn’t want to.

I skipped the last one.. glad we get a fresh take with new writers and directors.. the matrix universe is prime for tv and movies and games. Just needs that fresh start

Just make a Matrix anthology series like the AniMatrix or just continue the AniMatrix. It could be a great rival to Black Mirror. A reboot of the Matrix will just be a remake of the original.
