Go to high school in the U.S. brehs.

Of the 1.66 million high school students in the class of 2013 who took the SAT, only 43 percent were academically prepared for college-level work, according to this year’s SAT Report on College & Career Readiness. For the fifth year in a row, fewer than half of SAT-takers received scores that qualified them as “college-ready.”

The College Board considers a score of 1550 to be the “College and Career Readiness Benchmark.” Students who meet the benchmark are more likely to enroll in a four-year college, more likely to earn a GPA of a B- or higher their freshman year, and more likely to complete their degree.

“While some might see stagnant scores as no news, the College Board considers them a call to action. These scores can and must change — and the College Board feels a sense of responsibility to help make that happen,” the report said.

The report also offered insights into why some students graduated high school prepared for college and others didn’t. Students in the class of 2013 who met or exceeded the benchmark were more likely to have completed a core curriculum, to have taken honors or AP courses, and to have taken higher-level mathematics courses, like precalculus, calculus, and trigonometry.

But on the bright side there's tons of information available, now (more than ever) for kids too succeed.

Got blame it on the anti-academic culture...

Overstimulation isn't a good thing. Too much information too process. Too many things to access information (laptop, tv, phone, Ipad, etc)

The heart attack inducing, suicide inducing, cost of living and student debt don't help.

Was riding the train with an Ivy League Pawg last weekend and we were talking about the local RE market and rent and she was telling me she pays more in student loans than her apartment rent(not an easy thing where I live).

True that. I saw a great clip on this the other day.

I also dropped an article on Sunday, regarding how social media, intellectually cripple us. I've been trying to limit my computer use recently as a result. I think my breh @Spliaff posted a video about the affects of too much internet usage has on the brain

we can't all be @88m3

Our education system doesn't seem to be doing a good job at retention

Yeah it's crazy how a few years post-secondary school (3-8 years) can change your financial status for better or worse.

Imo, these student loans be forgiven, and I say this someone debt free. Debt is like a modern day form of slavery...

It's not good for society I feel like. We have enough stacked against us. If it maxed out at 50k cool to me, you can pay that back easily(probably not ideal for everyone, better than the alternative). Anything else is just predatory and unproductive for a society. The money that is being spent on education could be much better put to use in businesses, real estate, stock market(eh), bonds, everyday spending etc. It could really revitalize the American economy and create a lot of growth. I don't think the wealth inequality can continue much longer in this country before people say enough is enough. All of this debt is going to be eventually defaulted on and much of it already has, the house of cards is about to collapse.

I'm a Socialist. Everything that every human should have (healthcare, education, food, shelter) should be subsidized by the government and fukk anyone who disagrees. People out here worth 500 million x more than other people, type of sense that make? AND NO they did not earn that by themselves, they earned it by working underpaid workers to death while they stash money in Sweden and cake in Cannes.

Requoting you again.

I think people at large have to really want change..

I think one of my biggest grips, is how are we progressing as an educated society, while falling victim to same trappings. Is there a reason why garbage like this has over 90+ million views:

Meanwhile a quality thought provoking program like PBS NewsHour, barely sees more than a couple thousand on average:

That's because those tests don't show shyt. I had a horrible SAT score but ended up Summa Cum Laude and am now currently getting my PhD...a test does not prove whether you can grasp intellectual material or work...they need to use a set of tasks and skills over time to determine a student's ability...grades don't count anymore in high school because they give gift grades all the time
