The 348 is a dud and pretty much a forgotten chapter in Ferrari history for a reason. An early 90's NSX is going to run the 0-60 is the same time, a late 90's NSX almost a second quicker. The NSX is getting as much HP out of its V6 that the 348 is getting out of its V8. The early 90's are kinda a dark period for Ferrari.

I don't get how you can say two cars are pretty much equal...

...but one is a dud, and the other isn't :patrice:

Plus a late 90's NSX is going up against a 355 or a 360 and uh...

It's not fair...

So what else do you call it when one car cost 120 at launch, another car cost 60 at launch, and twenty-five years later they're the same price?

The NSX performed like a 348 for half the price. Could be daily driven, is notoriously reliable, cheaper to maintain, and has held it's value exponentially better. The 348 is a dud.

....I'm sorry, no, depreciation isn't irrelevant. :heh:

Cars don't just depreciate at random for no reason
It wasn't because the car is crap, it was because its successor was one of the best cars Ferrari had made up to that point, and it got lost in the shuffle.

Nowadays, everything about these cars is comparable including the price so your "budget supercar argument" is no longer relevant.

I'll give you the cost of servicing these cars, though. :ld:

I just sat down to read this thread (wild day and night yesterday). Look like everything that needed to be said has been said regarding why the nsx is the better car.

Oh and please don't have this man buy a 355:laugh:. If you have to save up to buy a 355 then that is the last car you should be looking at. Its common knowledge that it is absolutely the MOST unreliable ferrari on the market. I'm talking engine and fuel tank out of car belt service, poor header design (cost $5000 min just for the headers after they fukk up), etc. I personally know one guy who had a 355 and ended up putting on ebay because the cost of service was damn near the value of the car. If you're going to save up for a ferrari then save up for a 360. The 308 is known as the most reliable ferrari (and cheapest), but I don't think you're going to be interested in that unless you're making a 288gto replica. The 360 did have problems but not 355 problems.

People down the nsx because of engine size, but I love it because of know much R&D was put into the car and it shows. I mean come on from Ayrton Senna (arguably the goat f1 driver) being in on the development of it down to those boys modeling the visibility on the inside from a f-16 cockpit. I don't know how to put it exactly but when I drove it, it felt perfect. The one I drove was modded tho.

Beat me to it.

And NSX parts are readily available due to aftermarket enthusiasts (even OEM parts can be copped at a local honda parts dept.).

Honestly, an oil change alone on the 'Rari would discourage most (gotta drop the engine... i don't know aboot older Italian exotic jumpoffs, but the recent ones oil changes will run you 15-25k. It's not even worth driving a lot even if you had a bazzillion dollars because of the hassle to maintain, imagine if you just a regular IT cat :ohlawd:).

Plus, the NSX's are accessible in terms of drivability (heard they feel like Type R's).

Most mechanics and body shops aren't about that life of repairing 'Raris (aluminum bodys require techs to be certified, that shiit ain't a walk in the park).

NSX was the first car to use aluminum monocoque

But the 'Rari gets mucho head turns.

You'd be breakin' more necks than TNS.
