I believe that some people here are not focused on what should be the most important goal of this burgeoning movement. Darren Wilson must pay for his crime, some how and some way. And the people supporting him must pay. It's cool to say "Edomite Wilson is getting off because its legal for cops to kill black men," but what plan of action are we initiating in the event of that happening? This talk of cameras on the shoulders of cops and voting in the right representatives and all that bullshyt is
Let the legal process work itself out bullshyt or not. You're wasting your time with all of this "rah-rah" bullshyt. That's not going to expedite the process. If you live in the white man's country, you'll have to accept his way of justice or lack thereof.
Wait for Wilson to be convicted before declaring him a criminal.

I don't think working with council members in DC or mandating that cops wear cameras will do anything. Cameras on the dashboards of police cars hasn't stopped them, so why would cameras on their shoulders prevent them from exacting excessive force upon us? You won't win this battle working with the system. The system was not designed to protect us. But I respect you donating to the gofundme campaign.
i would prefer black people designed they own social..economic..and political system instead of using the existing structures with alterations but if some think that is the best approach i wont oppose them...but to me it is the difference between bespoke and off the rack...

The first plan of action is to ask ourselves is why has the black man been oppressed since he reached the shores of Amerikkka in 1619 as slaves? Our people are still trying to fit in a system that rejects them over and over again. Its pitiful and its downright stupid.

I'm not disagreeing with you. It's why I express frustration when people come in here and talk about petitions to recall the mayor, as if that will do anything to address the injustice of Michael Brown's murder. In fact, when Al Sharpton gets up on the alter and talks about looking inward and solving the problems in our own community, I take great offense. When people come in this thread and say that we should call our representatives and have them push forward legislation to place cameras on the shoulders of these cops, I think to myself
I think those kinds of suggestions, in light of what we know about what happened to Michael Brown, are disrespectful to the memory of this young man. All of these white mayors are interchangeable cogs in the engine of white supremacy. They are irrelevant and not material to what we should be focused on: Standing up to white supremacy and responding with violence when one of our children are gunned down. I'm not a religious man, but I do believe that black people need to start living by the rule of "an eye for an eye."

Fitting in might not seem logical to you, but given that this country was literally built on our backs, we deserve to be here just as much as our oppressors.
Co-op's, I think can lead to economic prosperity and independence for Black people faster than any other plan.
Taking into account the idea of leaving is infeasible, but then people are treated as social, political and economic outcasts and actually stifled in many cases and left for neglect and ruin. This economic thing would have to work right where people are based but somewhat autonomous of the traditional structures. Basically its people in communities pooling all resources together.
