Right now I'm reaching out to council members in DC to (a) see what steps they're taking to make body cameras mandatory in the district, and barring that (b) working with SBA to see about getting the government contract to supply said cameras to the police. Not completely altruistic on my part, but I think it's necessary, and will most likely end up donating the profits if it happens.

Also donated $1k to Mike Brown's gofundme campaign - since wandering around Ferguson isn't possible for me at this time.

I'm not sure about the "black love" part either...but as far as the system:

- Finding out who your city/county/state representatives are and leaning on them about what changes you want
- voting in those people who will further our goals, or campaigning to remove the people who actively work against us
- campaigning for things like greater transparency in police investigations, how their budget money is spent, mandatory dash cams and body cameras, removal of urban warfare gear, etc

I don't think working with council members in DC or mandating that cops wear cameras will do anything. Cameras on the dashboards of police cars hasn't stopped them, so why would cameras on their shoulders prevent them from exacting excessive force upon us? You won't win this battle working with the system. The system was not designed to protect us. But I respect you donating to the gofundme campaign.

Don't forget school boards and municipal councils.

Part of the reasons black ppl have limited power is because we don't express our power. Why does Ferguson have a white mayor? Now obviously there's nothing wrong with a white mayor of a black city, if that mayor is the choice of the people and is doing the WILL of the people. But you got Ferguson's mayor on tv acting like nothing is wrong with the city, denying police issues, etc. You know what he sounds like? He sounds like someone afraid of losing white votes, like the governor. He doesn't sound like someone afraid of his majority BLACK electorate. That's a problem.

Senators and presidents and even congressmen aren't the problem, and shouldn't be the main goal. Yet every four years they rally blacks to send someone to Washington. Obama isn't the one who controls whether local business contracts stipulate that companies MUST hire locally. I think Claire McCaskill is a decent senator but she isn't the one who OK's the creation of after school programs. LOCAL officials do that shyt brehs.

I believe that some people here are not focused on what should be the most important goal of this burgeoning movement. Darren Wilson must pay for his crime, some how and some way. And the people supporting him must pay. It's cool to say "Edomite Wilson is getting off because its legal for cops to kill black men," but what plan of action are we initiating in the event of that happening?
