And yet most people DON'T agree with you.
He has too many classics..So i kinda expected people to have different choices..but cmon some of those lames on sohh made it like like tp2.com was garbage.
Nah, I never said it was garbage....but it's not his best....it was his most relatable album for hip-hop fans....so that's why it's more loved in some circles. Probably 3rd best for me....but thing is, most people who put it at the top havent been listening to R. Kelly since 92
To me, even 12-play wasn't that great outside of the slow jams. The other 6,7 tracks were up-tempo new jack swing that soudns terrible back then, and now.
The blue album is where it all came together for him. Album had 1 skippable track. The rest were all fire, nothing sounds dated or forced.
Dont get me wrong, TP2 is still a 5-star album...
12 Play probably got the best slow jams (which is what R. does best in my opinion). But that album is somewhat ruined by all those uptempo songs thrown in between where R. rapped (with his brother).
The self titled album is consistant, and is more personal with some gospel thrown in there. Chocolate Factory and TP-2.com are consistant as hell as well with some true gems in them.
R. has some of his best work but its way too long, as usual with double albums, he SHOULDA made it a one disc album (and it most likely would've been his best album).
I'm not too much of a fan of U Saved Me/Happy People, Love Letter and Write Me Back. They do got some really nice songs but I want the raunchy, sexual (no homo) and contemporary R. Kelly.
Untitled and Double Up were wasted opportunities, too many attempts to crossover and make hits. But the best songs are brilliant as usual.
Hands down, 12 Play. "Your Body's Calling", "Bump N Grind", "Seems Like You're Ready", "Sadie">>>>>.
All of his albums before Chocolate Factory are arguably classic. To me 12 Play is his definitive work though.
His next joint supposed to be a return to that raunchy. can't wait.12 Play probably got the best slow jams (which is what R. does best in my opinion). But that album is somewhat ruined by all those uptempo songs thrown in between where R. rapped (with his brother).
