You cant assume that. He was obviously seeing the kids prior to what ever she filed in court so she should never have gotten the govt involved if it was really about what was best for the kids.

If she filed child support for the first time he could have gotten hit with back child support from the day the kids were born. And in the courts any money or anything you gave her for your kids prior to her legally filing is considered a gift and doesn't count towards your back child support payments. This is how women can ruin men. A man that did everything right and supported his kids can still end up 30k in debt and getting wages garnished over night by a scorned women who changed her mind 10 years after your kids were born.
