Billboard didn't call. Budden top 5 is the difference.
Em can ryme but his music is trash. There are literally 100s of rappers like that. But he is the only 1 in the top 5. The others aren't.
Maybe, just maybe, you and the 26 nikkas on this board that can’t get over Eminem’s success in Hip Hop will just concede you’re in the minority. Maybe y’all will stop acting shocked that one of the best selling artist of all time was technically gifted, critically acclaimed for his skills and abilities, was popular to black people as well as immensely popular with the yts.

Is the goal to rewrite history or is it to convince millions of people that their experience and musical taste were somehow wrong when they had them?

To put it simply, what is the point of this outrage? Do you know how much of a loser it makes y’all look to be constantly crying over one white rapper that made it big?

Ya must be the same dudes that tell women they’re gonna die alone when they don’t DM you back lmao

He's not the only white rapper to make it big. He is just the biggest.
There is no agenda, I don't really care where he is ranked by a magazine or whatever. I'm just saying I think his music is trash. That's what messageboards are for to express opinions. lol

It might be hard to swallow for some of yall (pause), but the only place Eminem really catches hate like that is on TheColi.com, lol. If this place is your world then you may really be genuinely surprised when you hear all the rappers and everybody else salute Eminem so much and say he's Top 5-10 and all that. On the Coli he aint even Top 50, :russ:
They would loose it if they found what the younger generation think of JayZ

:mjlol:as a peer, Canibus was hotter than Em at one point and got there with an easier rode traveled. He didn't have black radio/club support. Just ran into the misfortune of being mismanaged. Em's rhyme book/skills were sharpened in black neighborhoods, if you rhymed in the city during that time you knew who Em was, crossed paths or at least was aware.

so wheres all these other great rhymers from your city?? why is it that none of these dudes made a dent outside of detroit, while eminem went on to sell the most records and be seated in GOAT conversations?

are you willing to admit that they were all trash and nowhere near eminem's level?
or is skin-tone the only real difference between them?
which one is it??

Rappers don’t say all of their peers and colleagues have amazing skill sets tho sir…they say it about Eminem tho. But whatever lol, if you dislike him you’re just gonna dislike the guy no matter what, 🤷🏽‍♂️.

If you feel like fellow rappers will be biased…what do the reputable critics/fans say about Eminem, generally speaking? I’m pretty sure they say basically the same regarding the rapping skills. But again…if you are dead set on not accepting anything unless it’s disdain then that’s what you on, lol

Don’t y’all get tired of saying the same shyt about Em everyday?

He was a broke degenerate who wanted to kill himself before he was plucked by Dre and Interscope.

Y’all love circle jerking about his music aging terribly when this discussion is specifically his skillset. There are mad rappers who are technically gifted whose music y’all don’t like. Joe Buddens music was unmixed emo trash to me but I could never deny how phenomenal an emcee he is.

Again, have fun trying to rewrite history. Music aged terribly but he is still one of the most gifted rappers ever. Get over it lol.
Lol and joe has a terrible rap voice but he’s gifted for sure .

good thread

i dont think anyone thinks eminem cant rap. thats not the point

a good comparison would be a musician like yngwie malmsteen. that guy can play the fukk out of an electric guitar, but the music is straight up buttcheeks. nobody wants to listen to that. talent without the ability to shape and polish your own art is worthless.

personally i think ems biggest sin was opening up the floodgates for all these mediocre white rappers who saw him on tv and said, "i can do this too"

Always blows my mind at how so many artists come running to defend Em when someone says something about him.

When a black rapper is talked down upon or disrespected no one comes to defend them
Like when people used to defend diddy staying in the light of people like em could later come with a bag down the line. Plus em seems like a cool dude outside of rap so i can see why rappers defend him.

Black artists had to keep black & white fans engaged every step of their career to be considered great.

Eminem was afforded the luxury of making Weird Al Yankovic music while nikkax cracked their heads to make crossover music that would also get spun in the club

Eminem’s nonsense was played on black radio
Few black artists consistently got crossover looks however

I lived through it

Wtf does that have to do with SKILLS on the mic? Em has real skills, crossover or not.

there are a lot of people with skills, great music, and subject matter. If you think Eminem is succesful strictly for skills, you're dumb as fukk. There are a LOT of dope white mcs. jimmy iovine is powerful. I'm sure eminem wanted to make straight hip hop records like Biggie, but Iovine had to be his puffy daddy informing him, "hey, you're white. Speak to white ameirkka. You can't do your dope hip hop shyt, but don't forget you're white and use that to your advantage".

Krs One was wrong. He said he was relying on talent, not marketing and promotion. Marketing and promotion is 99.999999% of the equation. :russ: . I don't give a fukk how great of a rapper you are, that means shyt without the small hats putting you on tv and the radio every hour forcing everyone to hear you . I've known Rapsody since 2008. She's no more or less iller than she was then. What's the difference now? a Roc Nation co-sign.

It’s crazy the amount of people I know who were fans of Eminem 20 years ago who think his music is awful now
