Workers of McDonalds, Burger King, and Taco Bell are striking in NY over the right to unionize and demand higher wages. Leaders are claiming that the $8/hour they are paid isn't enough to raise a family. My question is, why would anyone take a job with MacDonald's with the intention of raising a family on it? If the job your working for doesn't pay the bills, quit it and get another job or start your own business. This entitlement mentality that Obama and the Dems have pushed on the country will slowly destroy us.

Walmart and Fast-Food Strikers Face Harsh Winds - 24/7 Wall St.

In my opinion, businesses should be allowed to offer wages consistent with their chosen business plan. People insisting companies pay people exorbitant wages for relatively simple work need to GTFOH. Anyone interested in what effect overzealous unionization can do to a businesses should look no forward than Hostess, GM, FORD, and the rest of the other casualties of unionization.

No one who works at McDonald's can start their own business.

The problem isn't really that the unions are overzealous- it's that they stopped being faithful to what the structure and operation of a union should look like. Ironically, they began taking on many of the characteristics of the corporations they were created to curb, and losing what made them truly collective efforts in the first place, which then led to all this mafia-style behavior and corruption. The corporate model of organization itself is the problem here.

Your response is so typical of a liberal. I'm sure in your eyes these people could barely tie their shoe laces without assistance from the government. Meanwhile, taxes continue to soar in order to support people that in your mind are physically incapable of taking care of themselves.

Did you give up posting for trolling? If so, that's too bad.

I'm not a "liberal."

I'm sure in your eyes these people could barely tie their shoe laces without assistance from the government. Meanwhile, taxes continue to soar in order to support people that in your mind are physically incapable of taking care of themselves.

What does assistance from the government have to do with anything? That's completely irrelevant to this discussion, as are general taxes.

Honestly, I'm not sure what you're getting at right now, if you're not trolling.

Hostess had a hedge fund screw up. There's more to that story that won't come out for years.

So what we see is this. They are working, but you still crap on them. If they were on welfare then you would have a problem too.

There is no guarantee to make a profit. You complain about workers but what about the ability to run a cost effective business. If wages are low then no one works for you. Same if wages are high. This is why you treat people well and don't under or over pay them.

Im crapping on them for taking a job requiring little to no skills yet demanding premium wages. I know a few college grads that didn't come out of school making $15/hour. By right, these fast food jobs were desgined for young people, not old people raising families. And again, no one is forcing these people to work for the companies. They can always find work elsewhere. But the entitlement nature of this country encourages people to demand high wages even if they don't deserve them. Trust me, I used to live in Detroit, a town decimated by unions. I've seen this cylcle occur far too many times.
