Saw the movie and it's not great but not nearly as bad as the worst batman movie . Idk how bad fox ruined if but i don't think a great fantastic 4 movie was hidden in this . Trank wanted to make gen13 or generation x . Fox should of stopped this at inception or let it rock
i still can't believe anyone had hopes for this at all. with all the rumors, and the 9 trailers that showed the exact same shytty looking scenes, what could you have possibly expected.

only thing that has changed in my mind is that i think Trank got dikked over, instead of vice versa. dude might come out as the good guy in the end.
Eh idk I don't think he was crafting a great movie anyway . More cohesive yeah but not a great fantastic 4 movie

i agree, but i think this is gonna be the new example of studio fukkheads messing with a movie and Trank is gonna get sympathy for it. I'm sure he partially earned his Star Wars dismissal, but the studio fukking with him was probably the main reason he didn't end up getting that. dude probably lost his mind

Studios fukk with a lot of movies though . He should of kept professional though cause he has no cache in Hollywood and Disney is serious about their properties and will be interfering somewhat

Why did 'Fantastic Four' director Josh Trank slam his own movie?

Not all these new sources agree, however. Some who worked on the film say Trank was driven to the breaking point by the studio, and that his clash was not with Kinberg but Fox production president Emma Watts. The studio delayed casting and script approvals, slashed the budget by tens of millions from what was originally promised during the development phase, and tried to force last-minute script changes to the film just as principal photography was beginning, according to several individuals who worked on the movie.

Just take a look at the list of producers, which includes not only Kinberg but former Fox production chief Hutch Parker, and X-Men: First Class filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, and its clear the studio kept switching up managers and expectations. Fox executives desperately wanted to reboot Fantastic Four after the indifferently received big screen versions in 2005 and 2007, but they bristled at many of the traditional comic book elements that defined the characters.

There was uncertainty about who should star. MIchael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm was set from the start, but the studio wanted a different actor than Miles Teller for Reed Richards. Trank won that battle – but he lost on Fox’s insistence that Kate Mara be given the role of Sue Storm. Different sources say Trank was indecisive, others say the studio was hemming and hawing on his choices. Either way the script was not finalized until late in preproduction, and continued to change right through reshoots, which stalled crew workers who were trying to build sets, make costumes, props, and prep the movie. This created confusion and stress from the get-go that often boiled over among department heads trying to put together pieces of a movie that was still in flux.

Just walked out of it. The first hour is really interesting and I really liked. It's all careful and seems very thought out and interesting. I love the relationship between Ben and reed I love that Johnny is rebelling against his dad and how Sue is the golden child yet seems to be very introverted. Even loved the stuff with victor and reed and just seeing them work together while victor is building this rivalry in his head. But once that one year later card hits, it all gets sloppy and unravels and just feels like a different film entirely. It's not nearly as bad as people would have you think but it's obvious there's at least 40 min of movie missing, maybe more. The last hour or hour and a half is just a different movie altogether and that really sucks.

Kind of like Hancock where there just ruin the movie after the first 40 mins.
