You know it always surpised me that producers didn't sample BB King or Blues much. Especially considering that the subject matter in Blues is much closer to common themes in Hip-Hop than Soul and Funk were.

Maybe BB King's death will inspire more producers to sample Blues more.

Because the Internet, spectacularly eclectic groups like The Foreign Exchange exist. Had it not been for Nicolay and Phonte connecting online all those years ago we would have never been blessed with great albums such as Love in Flying Colors and their Grammy-nominated Leave It All Behind.

And it gets even better. Nicolay has announced that he will unveil a new solo album, City Lights Vol. 3: Soweto, on June 9th. To set things off, he teams up with his North Carolina brother from another mother for that LP's first pair of singles, a jazzy electronic slice of aural ethereal goodness. Get into it below.

"The Brightest Star" is the first single taken from Nicolay's upcoming solo album, City Lights Vol. 3: Soweto. The single bundle is available for purchase on iTunes now and includes the single edit of "The Brightest Star" as well as non-album B-Side "Afterglow". City Lights Vol. 3: Soweto drops 6/9/15 on +FE Music.
