You can tell the female protagonist option was added later in development.
This is completely irrelevant.
Bethesda dumbed down the special stats, removed skill points and skill checks, and removed traits. Fallout 4 only allowed charisma checks which is limiting and along with the voiced protagonist hurt the replay value of Fallout 4.
They didnt dumb it down, they just changed how the special system worked along with the perks. Just because its different doesn't mean its dumbed down. The only problem I have with the special system is the lack of a level cap.
You can't even be evil in Fallout 4. Just a sarcastic jerk. Nuka World doesn't matter because it doesn't even affect the main story.
This is a valid complaint.
Bethesda was also lazy with the overall story for Fallout 4. Its almost the exact same as Fallout 3. Instead of searching for your father you are searching for your son.
Other than the fact that you are looking for someone in the beginning, the story of the two games are drastically different.

Fallout 4 was a step back from NV in some aspects but a better game that fallout 3 in nearly every way, unlike most gamers now days I dont hate Bethesda and I will be looking forward to the next main entry to the series considering it will use the new engine being designed for ES6. I'm not praying for their failure like yall are, claiming this new shyt is the future of Bethesda games.

In New Vegas, depending on your special stats, skills, and traits, you can complete quests and interact with the world in different ways. You can actually be good or evil and replay the game as different types of characters.

@5n0man This is the most important RPG aspect that you are conveniently ignoring. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, there are many quests in which you could complete in multiple ways. Pick a lock to get through a door, or pickpocket an NPC if you have high sneak, or convince him to give you the key if your speech is high, or kill him and take the key... all the while taking a hit to karma if you choose an immoral option. There were way fewer options for any given quest in Fallout 4...no skills, no karma system, a ton more unkillable NPCs. Quests almost always boiled down to "kill all the enemies", and your charisma stat was used primarily to negotiate how many caps you received for completing it. This is a huge difference in gameplay, and what people mean when they talk about RPG elements being removed. Settlement building is not an example of a fukking role play game element.

This applies to New Vegas not fallout 3.

Go back and replay fallout 3, most quest came down to killing all enemies or collecting an item just like it did in 4. The karma system being gone is a valid complaint that I already admitted earlier in the thread. I'm not arguing that fallout 4 was better than NV but it certainly is better than fallout 3 was. The problem I have is yall literally acting like fallout 4 isnt an rpg game at all and that Bethesda is killing the series and turning it into a multiplayer game just cause they created a multiplayer game as a spin off. I can argue about how skyrim isnt an rpg game because they took away alot of rpg elements that were in morrowind or that elder scrolls 6 will be a multiplayer game because they made elder scrolls online, but that would be pointless groundless bullshyt. That's what this thread is, praying for Bethesda to fail and acting like everything they make is trash. Fallout 4 was not a shytty game, nether is fallout 3, but that's what the argument is now. The only reason I bring up NV is to point out how gamers called it trash at release and not as good as fallout 3 when the narrative has changed since hating Bethesda is the thing to do now.
Settlement building is not an example of a fukking role play game element.

I used settlement building as an example of something that they added, along with a better weapon system, improved VATS, scaveging for supplies, bigger map with better designed locations, better gameplay in general that made the game actually fun to play instead of a clunky mess. If you think NV is the better game that's fine, I agree. But the narrative that fallout 4 trash and isnt even an rpg game or that there will never be another single player fallout game just cause they made a multiplayer spinoff is bullshyt. I dont know why everything has to either be the best or its trash to the gaming community now.

This is demonstrably false. If you have a few hours, watch this YT vid. MATN goes through several major quests in Fallout 3's storyline and breaks down the various ways one can complete them. The same thing does not exist in Fallout 4, by in large. Occasionally, you have a choice between killing an NPC or using a speech check to convince them not to fight, but that's it. Fallout 3 has numerous quests which allows the player to use different skills in order to complete them. By removing skills, Bethesda removed a lot of the player's ability to role play, and min/max certain stats. Maybe YOU need to go back and replay these games. That being said, I've never said Fallout 4 is a bad game, but it's certainly debatable whether it's better than Fallout 3 ... which, by the way, is terrible considering it came out like a decade earlier.

My girlfriend preordered it for me as a surprised. Since I’ve played the other games a lot in the past. She just told me in case I wanted the XBO version instead of the PS4. Now I’m debating if I want to tell her to just cancel it altogether.

Nothing hurts more than when your girl has her heart in the right place like that but picks the wrong thing. :mjcryum:
