Its already been said but to me the hate for unions mostly stems from jealousy. When you're working 80 hours a week with the boss on ur ass all the time making less than 20$ an hour its easy to be mad at the union worker making 30$+ on half the time with plenty of vacation and benefits. The rich have capitalized on this sentiment and unfortunately most people are buying it and unions are on the way out. Its sad that people think working 24/7 on shytty wages is the only way to live. You think people that make six figures give a fukk about unions? Nah its the poor b*stard who wakes up every morning and hates his life doing all the complaining.

Having worked in a unionized job for a couple years I can tell yall what its like from the inside. Generally I think theres more positives than negatives. The positives are you always make a good wage, benefits and pension are great and you don't have to do any OT unless you want to. Its also basically impossible to get fired once you're hired. You might think this leads to a lot of lazy workers but its not that bad in my experience. The lazy ones get singled out by the rest of the staff and get pretty much shunned and shytted on. No one wants the rep as the lazy fukk. Id say at least where I work at its 95% solid workers only about 5% truly lazy b*stards doing the minimum to get by.

Now to the negatives....theres basically no room for advancement. Once you get a unionized job thats it. Besides a decent pay raise due to seniority in the first 10 years or so but after that you're at the level you're gonna be at forever. Not saying that its a bad level to be at...most likely its gonna be in the 70-100k a year range, 100k+ if you pick up a looot of OT and extra shifts. But there's no dreams of being a senior VP one day or getting that big promotion. This is why I say no one eating that good is complaining about unions...cause theres no such thing as a union worker making 200k+. You make a good middle class income with good job security nothing more nothing less. Obviously this is becoming a rarer thing nowadays so the vitrol towards unions is understandable but sad nonetheless.

Whats your opinion?
Like everything in life its a mix

Americans have changed their habits in ways that work against our wealth and health

But corporations have also worked to siphon growth and income increases to the top

People who don't want to look at both sides or dive into the nuances and intricacies have their minds made up and want to convince everyone to think like them... not have an exchange of ideas
