My job was on the LSO PLATFORM.

When he makes that hard LEFT turn I would yell

"AIRCRAFT BREAKING"..

then as it's perpendicular to the ship

"Aircraft downwind "..

Then I'd have to identify if it were a rhino(super hornet) or a hornet(two seater).

If I fukked up and got the aircraft wrong then the arresting gear might snap due to weight difference.

A line literally catches the aircraft

Yea if I called a rhino but the wire was set for a lighter hornet the wire could snap.

They have a system that automatically adjusts to the weight but they NEVER want to test it.

I wonder if they feel that abrupt stop
I landed on an aircraft carrier and took off from one in a COD Greyhound.

The way the seats are rotated I felt when we tookoff..you spring forward A little bit.

Also when they land they Throttle to full power IN CASE the wire snaps or they miss the wire.

To take off again? That's interesting, I'd have thought it would take lots of flap and reduced speed to get it slowed down to land on the ship.
How long you been in the Navy breh?

They train for hours.on land..

Then fly a T45 training single engine jet on board a carrier... to get qualified

Then move onto FA 18..get qualified..

Then fly atleast 1 once a month.

They probably have over 200hours flying before they've onto the stealth bombers...probably been flying for years and have fozens of landings on a carrier before they even smell a stealth bomber.

On the way to the gulf the Navy jets just fly around doing mock missions.. fly for about an hour. ...then land. Each pilot get a day and night flying session

Takes us about a month and half to get to the gulf.

Then when we get to the GULF the actual missions begin..recon or bomb dropping.
Take this and multiply it 123 times. That’s the training we went through to be qualified to do deep diving into the deepest part of oceans. Only the top humans of the world get recruited. The main objective is to send ambassadors from human kind to the intelligence that lurks in the underworld. To do what?

Umm, ok. Hmmm. How do I put this delicately.

Ok. Alright. Humans rode horses around for several thousands of years. Up until the last 130ish years ago.

So the decision was made by the developers of human flesh that mankind wasn’t advancing quick enough. They sent mercenaries to select nations of the world and educated them in esoteric topics…ie identification of waves, signals, weaponry, and Opened their eyes to the many uses of a surplus commodity that lives within the earth. You call it oil.

I already said too much. But yea, u get the picture. Don’t mean to one up you. Your training is impressive, for a human.

Basically what other people here have said.

If you've seen the qualifications and the filtering process these pilots go through, they're pretty much some of the sharpest, most physical capable people operating these things.

Then you take these highly qualified people and give them non-stop training.

Edit: pilots will also be some of the most honest people you'll find. They'll tell you straight up things like A.I replacing fighter pilots is a real thing, China's tech is solid (but their pilots inexperienced), etc. I think when things are on the line like that the job trains them to be very upfront and to put down the ego, not to mention high-functioning people like that tend to be that way or at least they filter out the ones who are not.
