^ truth. and to think about species that have been here longer than us and are still here...there has to be at least some residue of intellectual advantage...just from experience alone.
to relate it to the thread topic, i believe that if we do ever have "that" encounter, it would likely be from beings that are already here, whom we have yet to meet...there's outer space, but there's inner space too

Difficult yes, meaningless no. This is the trade off for technology, creativity, etc..
Imagine the world 1912 ....look around in 2012...now imagine in 2112. You have to take the good with the bad.
We are not perfect beings and we dont have the mental capacity for perfection.
However we are not limited to only fishing when the weather permits.....not knowing what infection is etc...
i dont understand your question. dinosaurs are dead and almost everything we know about them is loaded with theory.
My point being, what defines what smart is? Status of existence? Dinosaurs were on top of the food chain and were on Earth for longer than Humans have been (in all likelihood)..Doc Holliday seemed to suggest that our complex society provides meaning to life and justifies humans as being on top of the food chain, yet dinosaurs were on top of the food chain for longer and still would be if they co-existed with humans.
right...its why i chose the term intellectual advantage over smarter. "smart" is relative. how do we know chimps dont believe they are the top of the food chain? how do we even know what type of intellect they have if we are defining everything by our own?

So with that logic...why do they allow us to make them pets?.....subjects of in-humane testing? Knock down their natural habitat?...your theory is full of flaws...mainly the need for self-preservation. If an alien species lands on earth and tries to do any of these things to the human species as a whole...we will fight back. If their tech is superior it might be futile, but we will go out with a fight. Until that day we are at the top of the food chain
who knows? i know my argument is definitely full of flaws from a human reasoning standpoint, my point is perhaps human reasoning is not the heaviest box in the warehouse

I have a feeling that if all this stuff about aliens is true then disclosure will happen by accident. Someone will film undeniable evidence, or government files will be hacked, etc. Theres going to be a lot of explaining to do if they can't cover it up.
