There are certain elements of Black culture that arose out of the dysfunction that has been plaguing our communities since the 1970s. This is one of them. You are probably one of those types to defend all things deemed "Black" no matter how silly just because White people hate it. If I were to say that weaves as a part of Black female culture should be outlawed or discouraged I'm sure many of you all would agree with me considering the flak that it gets on here. We are very innovate people but this is one of those things we got wrong.
It's done to be provocative and it provokes people. It's rude is what it is.
I actually think yoga pants are in poor taste in public. i like looking at a woman in what are essentially pantyhose with no skirt but 1) I am gonna gawk and she's gonna feel a certain type of way ans 2) about every 5th female rocking this style turns out to be 14 when you get closer (so now I am supposed to feel like I did something wrong cause she has her ass out?).
To both the bolded, so are tattoos.
But because they arent limited to black culture, instead of being demonized theres a push for it to be accepted. Otherwise you are seen as not progressive and not in touch with modern times.
To both the bolded, so is hipster culture.
Damn near dressing like a hobo, and living in a dwelling suffering from urban decay. But because whites got into it got accepted to be popular style and became what is desirable. Check the prices on items and real estate deemed 'rustic', and has 'character' and see if they match the perception of them 20 years ago.
Guarantee you if sagging bled into white culture as big as it did in black culture these three things would be all held in the same bracket and the same light, and the same 'progressive and modern' regard.
