Obama probably thinks he is getting tougher because how persistent he is being now about raising taxes on the rich and sticking to that promise.....
But its like he cannot be completely 100 percent consistent. He is being tough and strict with the fiscal cliff issue.....but soft with the Susan rice situation.
And I don't call that 20 second clip of him speaking to the media at the white house press conference about how he supports her and how he should get the blame "being tough".

Rice could still be chosen as Obamas National Security Adviser, a post that does not require Senate confirmation, should Thomas Donilon decide to step down or be moved to another position such as Deputy Secretary of State.

It's not whether obama wanted to put her up for a vote, it seems like she herself didn't want to go through with the nomination process. You can't force a person to go through with it especially someone in her position who is constantly being attacked by the right.

I honestly don't see the point in fighting for someone you can't get confirmed. It was clear republicans were going to be against her. I say nominate someone other than Kerry to spite them.
