Exactly why are ratings dropping so fast in the wwe when wrestling has been awful for so long?

Why is the UFC still doing well then?

Because it’s not a scripted television show that relies heavily on its performers interacting with the audience

It’s been the only true “sport” (That and Boxing... golf too :snoop:) on in America during a time when all other non scripted competition has been halted.

some sports coming back now as well so I expect these ratings to stay low since the product is boring even worse without crowds:manny:

Because the racism in wrestling is becoming blatantly clear. Let African Americans dominate wrestling like they do in real sports and you'll see a change in ratings.

Imagine if Montez Ford defeated Brock Lesnar and was doing frog splashes on the neckbeards favorite wrestlers. It would be a shock to the system. Dude would be on his Floyd Mayweather/Deontay Wilder shyt if cacs didn't write this shyt. He'd be all over Jimmy Fallon and TV in general. shyt would be crazy but instead, we have the same recycled cacs with no swag holding titles.

For God sakes, Bayley is holding 2 belts while Sasha is bringing in ratings. If Sasha was dominating women's wrestling, shyt would go through the roof. She'd be on entertainment tonight. Out of touch management is an understatement. NXT at least has it right but they are lesser known. They are practice for the major leagues. Noone watches the g leagues for the NBA.

They can push anybody they want right now, that shyt don't matter. Could have the greatest writing since 2000 and it don't make a diff.

The excitement factor of wrestling cannot be captured in a small quiet room with a handful of other wrestlers as a makeshift crowd. It makes the show boring to watch.

Why is the UFC still doing well then?

Y’all know the UFC averages less weekly viewers than WWE’s flagship shows, right?

Main difference being UFC can still sell PPV’s. Masvidal vs Usman just did 1.3 million which is nuts for a PPV in 2020

But their tv ratings aren’t through the roof, they average anywhere from 700k-1.2 million a week..

Porier vs Hooker just did 1.02 million total viewers

woodley vs burns did 1.021 million total viewers

Again, MMA is an actual sport. They do strong on PPV depending on the card.. but this notion that their weeklys are doing monster numbers and washing pro wrestling is fictitious. They’re barely above NXT/AEW with the weekly numbers

LDN
-No Crowds, gives a small time atmosphere
-Big name stars that the E has emphasized arent there (Reigns, Becky, Cena, Ronda)
-No Legends to move the needle
-No impactful storylines
-Other activites and viewing habits during quarantine

I'd say the first 2 are the biggest reason, you literally saw online people say they didnt feel like watching when WWE insisted on going on when everything else was shut down. Whether they thought it was due to irresponsibility or just not looking right with the no crowds (First couple of Raw and Smackdowns saw a boost but then people saw it didnt look pleasing to watch)

You could make the argument that the crowds have carried their subpar product for years now, with the post Mania RAW crowds being the best example. Without them that intangible factor disappears from their product and all of their flaws lay bare (bad booking, thin or non existent characterizations, overproduction, etc.) and many people subsequently realized the product just flat out sucks :yeshrug:

Complete and total lack of direction, and nothing unique about these shows.

Usually the summer is a bit slow, but typically, there's at least a general build toward whatever SummerSlam is supposed to be at this point.

On top of that, every single one of those shows is the same. There's no variation in appearance, and their roster is limited, so you're seeing the same people just get shuffled around. I've said it before in one of these threads, but a large portion of their viewers are living a monotonous life right now, where every day feels the exact same. Why follow that up with watching a show where every episode feels the exact same?

Even before this the crowds have been fukking dead for nearly a decade. You get the occasional insanely hot crowd like Chicago MITB when punk won or the Miami after mania crowd but even their hottest crowds like NYC are even close to what they were. It's probably has to do with like someone else, with all the shyt going on, there are more important things to do than watch a product that has been absolute trash for well over a decade now.

I think the main reasons is because the pandemic (and everything that has come along with it) plus this no crowd shows have made it way easier for hardcores to drop the habit of tuning in for a company that even though it may not give a quality product, it gave them something they were too usted to watch to drop it. Now they have other shyt going on to bother.

Casual fans is an even bigger detachment from the product.

The biggest issue is how the fukk will WWE bring them back eventually. They've failed for 18 years to bring back a huge portion of casuals, we'll see how they do with hardcores :patrice:

Yeah that's nice but they aren't struggling relatively speaking.
