Correct, she was a virgin when she was visited by the angel. Verse 41 is when she wasn't a virgin anymore. The "and it came to pass", meaning Joseph knew Mary and now she's pregnant when her cousin Elizabeth came to visit
Anybody that believes everybody black person came on slave ships from Africa to America is uneducated, and should be embarrassed. It's 2025 and the info is easily to obtain. At least people back in the day had an excuse. You nikkas just dumb and lazy.
Mary was absolutely still a virgin when she visited Elizabeth. There’s no biblical evidence to suggest otherwise.
In Luke 1:34-35, Mary says, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” Gabriel responds that the Holy Spirit will come upon her, and the power of the Most High will overshadow her. This makes it clear that Jesus was conceived miraculously, not through any human interaction. Mary’s virginity is central to this part of the story.
As for Luke 1:41, this is about Mary visiting Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist. The text says Elizabeth’s baby leapt in her womb, and she was filled with the Holy Spirit. This moment points to Elizabeth recognizing Mary’s pregnancy as miraculous. There’s nothing here to suggest Mary had relations with Joseph or anyone else.
The phrase “and it came to pass” doesn’t mean anything about sexual relations. It’s just a transitional phrase used all over the Bible to show the next event or the passage of time. For example, Luke 2:1 says, “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus…” It’s a narrative device, not a comment on Mary’s virginity.
Lastly, Matthew 1:24-25 is explicit: Joseph “knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son.” This means they didn’t have any sexual relations until after Jesus was born. The text is very clear on this point.
The idea that Mary wasn’t a virgin by the time she visited Elizabeth doesn’t hold up man. The Bible is consistent: Mary conceived Jesus as a virgin and remained a virgin throughout her pregnancy.
