Outlaw Vern made an observation about Oscar Isaac in his review so spot-on it immediately clicked with me why I've been low-key stanning this guy since Drive:

I’ve been a fan of Isaac’s unreadability since SUCKER PUNCH and through DRIVE and THE BOURNE LEGACY. I love seeing him play characters who are either being nice or are threatening by pretending to be nice, and you can’t tell which one it is. He draws on some of that here too as a character that you gotta assume is trouble, right? But maybe not. He’s kind of a fun a$$hole. Is he sinister, though? His motives are somewhat ambiguous.

I've never been able to explain that shyt until now.

Outlaw Vern is one of the best critics in the biz. I don't always agree with him but he often has astute observations about movies and he has respect for the 'lesser' genres ignored by most.

So do you guys think Ava ultimately passed Nathan's modified version of the Turing Test or nah? Did she fail because she lacked the human element of compassion, thus dooming Caleb without any regard for him? Or did she pass and had all the same thoughts, feelings and decisions a human would, and she simply turned about to be a shytty person (god made man in his image, right?)

She passed...The fact that you are unable to tell whether or not she lacks human compassion due to her programming OR she's just an a$$hole who was created by an a$$hole is solid proof, I think. She behaved just like a human would especially when it comes to having compassion for those keeping her captive. She could have been a decent person if she wasn't held and influenced by Nathan. Nathan became the representation of Mankind

That's what I think anyways.
