One of the reasons Evolution was formed was to build the two young guys - the handpicked star Orton who the company thought had "it" ; and Batista the guy who fit the big guy mold Vince loves.

Who y'all got?

Imo Orton > Batista, even tho Orton's run the last two years been pretty garbage, his best work as a heel trumps anything Batista did. The whole IED/Kissing Stephanie in front of HHH/Punting Vince build up to his match with HHH bringing in the ties of their feud from him being kicked out of Evolution was very well done, even tho the match and ending sucked. On the other hand Tista was pretty bland until his last heel turn.

They pushed Orton more consistently, but Batista is better for a couple reasons:

1.He drew money at one point, WM 21 and Vengeance 2005 drew significant numbers thanks to his angle with HHH.

2.More believable, his offense looked better than Orton's.

3.The IWC perception of Batista sucking in the ring and Orton being good doesn't make much sense when you consider the amount of memorable/good matches each has had, it's about the same. Orton is more mobile, that's about it.

4.Much better angle splitting from Evolution... Batista got over, Orton didn't.

Good topic.

While valid, Orton did manage to become the #2 figure in the company while Batista was cryin about Ric Flair and Rey Mysterio. I will ultimately go with Orton just based on their status in the WWE currently but I can't hate on someone saying Batista.

Both were very successful IMO. If I had to choose one I'd go with Batista he's pretty good in the ring, and had some very good matches despite the perception that he can't work.

Tista was the #2 in the company while he was there, imo. Dude was the most protected guy on the roster. It'd have been more obvious if not for the injuries.

He went over Cena clean like two or three times during both of their runs until he jobbed on the way out at Mania.

Batista is much more of a draw than Orton is/was.

He made the company more money than Orton did if you look at the height of their careers.

It's easily Batista.

I'm a 9-time World Champion, while Batista has only done it 6 times. Not to mention I was WHC at 24, the youngest EVER. I've been in the WWE since I was 21, Batista was already :old: when he made his debut. I'm still in my early 30's and got lots of gas left in the tank. I've punted the skulls of John Cena, Mick Foley, Triple H, and Batista himself. There is absolutely no way that Dave is in my league.

Look at Batista now lookin like a frail old chump. :smugfavre:

Evolution Orton was by far his best gimmick, I really enjoyed his IC title run and the feud with Mick Foley. Even the Viper wasn't too bad during the McMahons feud. But once he turned face it was all downhill.

I think Batista's tenure has been more memorable than Orton's though, I was a fan from the Evoltution days until his last heel run.

Batista went out on a boss level though. His heel character at the end was great.
