I take two to work each day, n each pack has 8 so weekly I buy two.

These + clementine + banana.

A few weeks ago I was doing handfuls of jerky too(good stuff not the slimjim trash) but I started breaking out from the sodium n stopped.
I fụcking absolutely hate rice cakes.

The Styrofoam sound between my teeth makes me scratch uncontrollably.

Avoid white sugar, white flour, white rice, and other starchy shyt that's not whole grain. Don't drink anything other than water unless you're making a smoothie from scratch with whole fruits and vegetables. That's honestly half the game right there, if you just do that much and otherwise eat whatever you want, you'll be better off than 90% of Americans.

Personally, I also avoid fatty meats, don't eat bacon/sausage/bbq/processed meats at all, avoid processed food in general in favor of cooking whole foods from scratch, buy the healthier oils (olive, canola, sunflower), and eat lots of fruits/vegetables with good variety.
Baked skinless chicken breast is the way to go.

One day I’m going to buy a vitamix.
I have no idea which models are good. Or it doesn’t matter? Any vitamix is awesome?
I got this one! My girl bought this joint because her parents had a model for last 10 years. I ain't realize it was damn near $500 :picard:

I dunno if you used some nasty kale, used way too much, or just make sorry-ass smoothies with no taste.

I encourage anyone here to just try it. Make a nice yummy smoothie however you like it, then add whatever you feel is a safe amount of kale. Then, if you like the result, add more next time.

If you don't like the result, maybe use riper bananas or more berries to improve the complementary taste. Or just try a little less kale, or kale from a different source.
You a damn Kale apologist :scust:

There was a thread on here with testimonials of how nasty it was

That’s my next step. From what I saw some are better at blending the greens much better than others.

I assumed it would be bad when someone did it for me the first time. Huge surprise. And I've never once had a bad experience since.

You admitted you've only tried it twice, I've had dozens of them that way.

What are your culinary tips to maintaining a fit and healthy body?
  • If you have a sweet tooth like me, eat a lot of fruits. You'll always find watermelon, mangos, cantaloupe and apples around my house hold.
Are you a meal prepper?
  • Yeah, I'm basic tho. I eat the same food most days tbh. Eggs, chicken, rice, frozen veggies and pasta. Fast-food (Caribbean, Indian, Chinese) on the weekends like a Friday/Saturday.
Do you use subscription meal services?
  • Nope, too broke for that lol.
What foods do you avoid?
  • Starting to avoid fast-food because it doesn't make me feel good after I eat it, Milk - lactose, candy, premade juices/foods... starting to chill with the seasoning.
What foods are must haves?
  • Eggs, chicken, rice.
How do you snack responsibly?
  • Yeah I stopped buying Candy/cookies and all that stuff, you'll always catch me with an apple or fruit in my hand at all times of the day.

Lately I've been making an effort to avoid calorie dense foods.

This applies mainly to snacks, and I guess people could consider this part of "volume eating"...but I am moving away from things like granola bars or protein bars...chips, cookies...

It's not 100% eliminating things from my diet. Just way less. Even with stuff like chips or crackers...which is one of my favorite things to snack on....having a few and adding carrots and hummus...or an apple or banana to my plate allows me to still eat what I like...but limit it so it's not out of control. Especially because most of those calorie dense snacks aren't very filling.

What are your culinary tips to maintaining a fit and healthy body?

Eliminate anything sweet. Not even fake sugar.

Are you a meal prepper?

It makes life easier, but most folks I know get tired of whatever they prepare. It's almost like preparing the food is the same as eating it.

So I always have something that can come together real quick.

I keep coconut milk, limes, peppers, onions, garlic, salt and pepper at all times.

Any given moment I can put together a nice fry up or soup with those ingredients.

Do you use subscription meal services?

Never.

What foods do you avoid?

I started slow by eliminating things

DoorDash and Uber Eats
Fast Food
Sit-Down restaurants
Alcohol
Chips, Candy, Chocolate, Junk food
Ready Made Meals
Highly Processed foods
Sugar
Starchy foods
foods that are marked "diet"

Then maybe I need to drop "complex carbs"
Maybe I need to drop meat.
Maybe I need to drop dairy.
Maybe I need to drop caffeine?

Maybe I need to add meat. Lean beef? Fatty beef?
Maybe I need to add beef liver, kale, broccoli...
Maybe it's tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions I need to drop.

Any given person's body is an individual mix of genetics, family history, culture, location, GUT bacteria, etc.

One of my homeboys - given him 10 calories of chicken - and he might die, because he's allergic.
Another homie is a Type 1 diabetic, the two buns on the burger might end him.

It could be that some foods are giving cats heartburn, digestion issues, or other types of inflammation that they don't process...
Tomato sauce for whatever reason will have me wake up in the middle of the night, if I eat it too late.....

Beer, which I used to enjoy more regularly, definitely does something other than get me feeling nice and add 40 grams of carbs for the day.

What foods are must haves?

Steak, Butter, Shrimp,

How do you snack responsibly?

I don't snack at all.

I generally eat one meal a day, between 3-5 pm.

Occasionally if I'm busy, and sometimes if I want to and I miss the window, I don't eat anything until the next window. I did Intermittent fasting throughout college and young adult hood (skipping breakfast and lunch), so that's not new to me. I've done 2 different, 20 day water fasts (20 days, nothing but water and electrolytes), so that's not an issue.

I agree with most of this besides sunflower, seed oils aren't good for you. Also getting 10k steps a day helps
