In this case, it looks like the NOI used the FBI's hatred to help them.
Look at the statements and tone coming from the NOI just prior to and after the assassination. Malcolm shytted on Elijah Muhammad something serious. Just aired all of his dirty laundry.

I have to agree with this. Powerful government organizations know how to use riffs between members of a group to divide people against each other and get them to do their dirty work. Like police in L.A. killing a gang member so the gang thinks their rivals did it and inciting a gang war. Don't truss 'em. Hell, we can't trust ourselves half the time.

Although the NOI has done good at the end of the day they are cult. Once there leader was exposed there only course of action was going to be violence.

For sure, no doubt about it.
Like I said, I'm sure the FBI was glad to help. They already had direct communication with the NOI on a constant basis. They probably just picked up the phone and said "Hey CAC, we are going to murder this traitor. Don't investigate too much."

I don't know. He was far too ahead of his time. His genius could've fell through the cracks I find. Ironically the only roles he could've played domestically was an integrationist role aside Dr King and others had he lived. The OAAU as Malcolm envisioned had great potential but the fear was he may have burnt too many bridges to make it work
His Muslim Mosque Inc could've played the role (possibly in conjunction) that Warith Muhammad ended up playing, as a spiritual organization, assuming he remained a Muslim
His greatest potential was his ability to connect the African diaspora with the motherland. He was the last of the DuBOis esque leaders in that regard, and it is in that capacity that his loss is most felt
