I respect that he took something we all do (waste our lives paying way too much attention to what’s going on in the music industry) and apparently has made a nice living off of it

Joe's podcast been on fire. Especially the last couple months. Bringing Mal in was a great move, and that dude Parks always has some funny ass one-liners outta nowhere. It's great comedic commentary on hip-hop culture and insightful if you're always curious about the business side of the music/entertainment industry.

To me it's about the fact that bro thought he needed to speak on that shyt like he was there, from the comfort of his own home in Jersey. I'm not in a gang so the last thing I wanna do is publicly speak on gang/street activity like I'm a knowledgable figure on it, especially when I don't even live in the place I'm speaking of. That's not my place, nor do I believe it is Akademiks'. And it's not just Chicago, he does this with a lot of rappers and speaks on nikkas he shouldn't in general(refer to the Hitmaka episode or even the Ashanti episode where they gave him polite warnings to stop speaking on certain individuals).

I don't dislike Akademiks', so much as I just think bro moves stupid as hell when he has some incredibly resourceful guys willing to give him advice and guide him. I honestly think the guy has a great personality for media, but he just needs to smarten up Nas.

to me his hip hop commentary (chiraq stuff included) was always lighthearted and pretty funny for a guy that is not a professional comedian

he makes light of the absurd shyt that we see in hip hop , i don't see the problem

to me it's no different than the wayans family and the thousand other comedians who make light of west coast gang culture or just the dysfunction that plaques poverty stricken communities, sometimes all we can do is laugh at certain shyt man idk it's weird and it' actually a form of therapy when it comes to a lot of comedians who have internal demons (i'm getting a little too deep and this might not even be the case with akademiks but there is parallels here imo)

i never really heard any maliciousness in his commentary the way you hear from a wendy williams, a star, or a (formerly) charlamagne

and again anytime i saw one of his videos (and no i havent seen them all) that was reporting on an actual murder victim, his tone was always somber, respectful and reflective believe it or not

people on here act like he be laughing at people getting murdered and shyt and thats not the case at all

and its actually dangerous that people try to make it seem like thats the case

Don’t be fooled these dudes don’t give a fukk about the gang wars in Chicago and the death and destruction that goes with it

They just use that as an excuse because they just don’t like akademiks (which is fine but don’t try to make it some kind of moral issue that shyt is so transparent and laughable)

People like the wayans have been making light of west coast gang culture for years (during a time where there was a lot of killing going on out there) and no one ever said shyt

And if we’re being real anytime akademiks reported on an actual chiraq murder (even the hip hop affiliated murders) there was always a somber and respectful tone to his commentary

He never was on no comedic shyt when it came to reporting on a chiraq murder

The real reason these dudes hate akademiks is because they feel he takes coli talking points and uses them as his own and he’s making money doing it and these coli dudes don’t have what it takes to do what he did and they’re salty about it
