Ever notice that Jay Z went through the 5 stages of grief over losing to Nas on Blueprint 2?

this was the last great moment in hip hop

i used to be bored by the jay/nas stan wars, and still am in general, but now that the nostalgia has set in, i will always welcome ether vs. takeover arguments. mostly because jay stans are so fukking pathetic when it comes to this :mjlol:

b-b-b-b-b-but the beat was trash :to: :to:

you kno what, I hate this argument and it is not a W for Jay

Nas signed to Def Jam and not Jay-Z, Jay being CEO was nothing more then a marketing ploy

And even if Jay was a real CEO (La reid still was the one in charge) he threw money at Nas to come and save the sinking ship. You really think Nas was the one initiating contact about signing to em?

call a label that had jay z and kanye west a sinking ship brehs :mjlol:

Can we get a psychological analysis of why Jay is asking for instruments that weren't there.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I'm not even a Jay stan it's the truth. Ether is not that great. Cam'Ron killed Jay more than Nas with You Gotta Love It
:what: all Cam did was repeat what Nas said on Ether for the most part..he called him ugly for like a minute straight as well..and that's not ALL Ether was about...Nas was speaking to JAY on Ether...Jay was speaking to the FANS on Takeover..saying shyt he didn't even truly believe himself..which is what won it for Nas..and it's why it affected Jay so much...

My thoughts on that whole shabang:

- Jay had the better records in this conflict, but he was playing chess and we could see it.
All of that "I don't write lyrics" ish went outdue window because he had clearly been storing some
of that. On the other hand Nas was coming back like he just threw beats on and said what was on his mind.

- Jay shot himself in the foot because he tried to rest his whole offense on the "I fucced your baby moms" angle
(which doesn't work if a buncha dudes did that, lol) and the "you used to be tight, but now i'm tighter".
Nas just came back with the "you was always weak and a li'l nicca" defense, and Jay took that bait and got
in his feelings.

- "Ether" beat is trash. Trash. "Takeover" beat is ehhh...I thought Jay would've been better off just
sampling the beat to "Fame" like the did the vocals, because that beat was always tight.

- Jay prolly never planned on there being a "vote" to decide who won, or if he did,
he didn't think it would "Ether" vs. "Superugly". No way Nas was gonna lose a vote to Jay
in NYC. Nas can do no wrong because he made Illmatic, people were glad he was back
in the light, and Nas is the "I'm a everyday nicca that dropped out but still made it" rapper.

- I agree, Cam handled both of them the right way.
I disagree with the Jay playing Chess part..and nikkas from outside of NY always act like It was some underdog victory..nikkas was ROOTING for Jay at the beginning of that battle...people just switched when the heard Ether..simple as that..shyt had nothing to do with Illmatic..

Lol, breh this analysis couldn't be more wrong if you tried...

Nas waited half a year before ether dropped from when jay called him out by name...nas originally wasn't even going to do ether

Jay did 'european jay' and superugly immediately after he heard ether

Nas was the one playing chess, not jay

Jay spent the whole time during to battle in his feeling acting like a female cos he couldn't believe people felt nas was winning/won

Defeating nas was supposed to be his victory lap...but he thought it was one way when...:ahh:

You agree with me and U.O.E.N.O.

Right after "Takeover" surfaced, Nas dropped that "Stillmatic Freestyle". He didn't wait long for that.
Then came "Ether" and (like I said) Jay took the bait and was rappin' on his heels...

- "an underdog victory" for who?
- Is there some sort of consensus that niccas was "ROOTING" for Jay at the beginning of that? That's news to me,
which is why I said what I said...

It just proves how epic that whole battle/beef was. I'm still like :pachaha::usure: when people say Jay murdered Nas with "Blueprint 2" and that the song was the best diss out of the whole battle. It wasn't even a diss. It was more of an apology and a concession than him :pacspit: @ Nas. Jay had harder lines aimed at the listener and everybody who sided with Nas than he did Nas. In fact, Jungle was on the receiving end of the most disrespectful line of the song.

It's crazy though. 2002 is like the lowest point of Jay's career musically and how he was starting to be perceived. 2014 might be worse though considering the Solange elevator debacle and the "Jay fell off" whispers becoming more like screams.
