Personally I liked the beat, when I heard it I knew shyt was real. I mean, I know you not a fan of that eras production, matter of fact that era period but personally I liked the beat.

Now Takeover that beat was terrible

okay. i respect that. i actually hate the takeover beat NOW too. I liked it back then. I think anything sampled i viewed favorably back then. The Blueprint in general is a fukkin' snoozefest to me. I like the Bink stuff & Girls, Girls, Girls.

again. yeah, takeover at the time seemed awesome....now? trash. But for me personally, and this is no anti Nas propaganda, my ears repelled the entire Ether song immediately. Like i HATED the audio i was hearing. I was surprised by it though. I guess that's the crux of why it's so important.

Just the bass of that Takeover beat makes me cringe

My thoughts on that whole shabang:

- Jay had the better records in this conflict, but he was playing chess and we could see it.
All of that "I don't write lyrics" ish went outdue window because he had clearly been storing some
of that. On the other hand Nas was coming back like he just threw beats on and said what was on his mind.

- Jay shot himself in the foot because he tried to rest his whole offense on the "I fucced your baby moms" angle
(which doesn't work if a buncha dudes did that, lol) and the "you used to be tight, but now i'm tighter".
Nas just came back with the "you was always weak and a li'l nicca" defense, and Jay took that bait and got
in his feelings.

- "Ether" beat is trash. Trash. "Takeover" beat is ehhh...I thought Jay would've been better off just
sampling the beat to "Fame" like the did the vocals, because that beat was always tight.

- Jay prolly never planned on there being a "vote" to decide who won, or if he did,
he didn't think it would "Ether" vs. "Superugly". No way Nas was gonna lose a vote to Jay
in NYC. Nas can do no wrong because he made Illmatic, people were glad he was back
in the light, and Nas is the "I'm a everyday nicca that dropped out but still made it" rapper.

- I agree, Cam handled both of them the right way.

Jays arrogance and his delusions of grandeur led him to think he would automatically win, that we the public would somehow have his back and give him our undivided loyalty and support over that washed up bum Nas..his love of cash over substance also led him to think we would go with the rich guy since hes more successful financially. Buying your own false hype is so caccish, I'm not shocked he calls himself European Jay. Plus he was also pressed about Nas stance as the top talent in NY, he got impatient and jealous, swung first, missed and blindsided himself.
