I will say....

JK was wide open for the checkdown. Didn't need to throw it in the endzone, but thats where that trust/reps comes into play...

The thing about those situations is... The RB is always open. I don't understand why more QB's don't look directly at them. It's something I like about Lamar Jackson. He'll dump it off to the RB in a heartbeat.

@Dr. Narcisse I get your point and it has some validity but, nikkas were one throw to to the flat away from winning on a drive where Fields was literally throwing every play save for a improvised run to keep the drive alive.

But if you got the TD, you go for the TD. If Olave keeps running that's a TD. I bet olave cutting back was the last thing he thought he'd do.

My thing is thats just talent..

They have the talent to do it. They have the skill to do it. However, OSU never was a machine like last year in terms of throwing the ball. OSU isn't wired like that.

Even with the drops OSU wins by 10 if they kept the tempo going. Day didnt because those guys arent use to it (the OGs are, but not Fields)

If you couldn't trust them to close the deal before the half then how can you be confident they'll close it with the game on the line? Maybe you pick up 3 before the half and Fields is wired to think check downs cause they're in range.

This shyt is not guarantee and OSU should have been gettting their SOPH QB ready in case of situations like this. He'll be ready next year...but no Chase, not SR wrs, etc etc

You could see it coming. OSU had the talent to overcome it, but when things go against you...well....just 23 points.

Oh I don't blame Fields, the play was there.

My prior point is Olave/Fields aren't in sync like that (other big time throwing are) Not enough reps. Now when its $$ time...welp the mistake happens at the worst time.

Yep. And if Day was like "Next year we'll get going, but we gon do it this way this year"

Then be aggresive when its 3rd and short and you can win the game. First down or two and Clemson never scores to take the lead. Just mismanaged.

Hate to say it, but OSU was the best team this year and would have won it all with Urban.

@Dr. Narcisse This is true. Haskins was much more prolific in that sense last year. But shyt, a lot of that was due to our defense putting us in a position where we couldn't take even a second off. Whatchu pose to do when you boat racing a everybody by two scores? Leave em in? Youd hope he was getting enough reps in practice against BIA and shyt. They couldn't hang with our wide receivers though either and we did not fully take advantage. Day got some things to touch up on in the offseason and his long developing routes are one of em. Not sure where the crossing routes, some slants and/or pick plays went, etc. We got more talent on the O coming in at least tho and Justin will have that year under his belt and maybe Day will open up the book even more like Clemson did with Trevor which is why he went thru some growing pains the first few games cuz they tossed more responsibilities at him to be prepared for moments like this. Our DEF will be straight for the most part tho. Zach Harrison gonna be a monster next year.

@I AM WARHOL @Black Ken To be fair, Olave said he thought Justin was scrambling so he broke the route...
