I think he moves the needle a bit. He could surprise us on how effective he is in this scheme.
I think they wanted him for that Joker role that Joe Ostman was supposed to be before he got hurt with the ACL. That Joker role when the linebacker can either rush or drop into coverage like a normal 3-4 outside rusher in a 4-3 defensive scheme but he is coming from the middle at center or the edges standing up.
He is bigger and better than Ostman athletically(his combine numbers for a linebacker were really high, bench press, 40 time, cone time and vertical were off the charts
), he has playing experience in college as an inside linebacker, which he was really productive, he also proved last year in Cleveland that he is adept in rushing the passer as an end and he has value on special teams as well.I just dont like the fact that he was a fifth rounder but we gave up a 2021 fourth rounder for him. Seems like we are hustling backwards and considering the Browns had no use for him. But at least its a 2021 pick
And at least I think he can see significant playing time in Schwartz's scheme since he likes to zero coverage blitz so much lately
because he can get there to the QB. I think it's good value.
