I'm okay with selling the farm at this point. The team has apparently bonded with complacency and the ship that was gradually sinking may now be under water. Old, no cap space, not much youth producing. Move aging assets for draft picks and/or young, skilled athletes.
Fire Schwartz and I feel it is actually necessary to fire Groh and Undlin.
It is fair to question Pederson if nothing changes moving forward. TBH Remaining steadfast in the face of middling results isn't admirable at this point. And Doug needs to look at himself in the mirror because he's looking funny under the bright lights.
They can trade/cut just about anything that isn't nailed down. I want to keep most of the OL, Wentz, Goedert, and Cox/Graham on defense. Everyone else is game.
As for Schwartz, the general reason I'd prefer to move on: the NFL is no longer a running league. Being strong against the run isn't much a positive, if it is one at all. I want a DC that can focus on stopping the pass.
Yes, the Eagles lack talent on the back end and have completely undermined the linebacker position, for some reason, but Schwartz's scheme is deficient regardless. The Eagles have been bottom-ten in passing defense the last three years. The problem isn't going away because the scheme is outdated.
A lot of this does stem from the ineffective front office, as well. The Super Bowl year was absolutely magic, but as we've seen, the Eagles achieved that on something that was not sustainable. Whether it was luck, short-term planning, or something else. They haven't maintained that bar they supposedly set for themselves back then.
The front office/ scouting dept. needs to evaluate talent better. We lack skilled talent. Dynamic athletes can open the field on offense and we need guys that can hang defensively. Thats Easier said than done, for sure.
The way they've structured this offense around Wentz is also stupid. Wentz is not perfect by any means but dude is a gun slinger and you have guys who cant get open beyond 15 yards and dudes like Agholor who quit on plays.
Its Hard to not react harshly to such a game, but I think the cost of doing nothing now may actually be higher than making systematic changes, given all the available context. I just don't see how it can get better by remaining complacent any longer. Unless they really just dont give a fukk and plan on riding off 2017 SB hype for another 50 years.
