This is a meme that Jonah Goldberg and maybe Thomas Sowell started pushing during Bush II. Other conservatives started pushing it to counter the claim of open drifts to fascism in many right wing parties.
By this logic, the RN and AfD are left parties since they support many social democracy initiatives.
The Nazis were a right-wing party and the fact that they implemented Keynesian economic policies and full employment doesn't make them left wing. They did not nationalize industries or practice open wealth redistribution. The state and corporatism did intertwine but even though they did not practice lasseiz faire economics doesn't mean leftist.
Germany had always had such state economics going back to arch conservative Chancellor Bismarck.
The trade unionists and Marxists were the first ones in the concentration camps soon after the Nazis took power before they got to the Jews, etc. They got in power drawing support from the right leaning parties of the time not the Communists or Socialist parties.
Fascist imitators like Franco in Spain had the full support of other conservatives abroad and the Catholic Church.
Now I think the fascist name calling can be over used but this idea every bad movement in the 20th century was leftist or crypto leftist is wrong.
