I noticed he mentioned players can recover by clinching, but the developers said clinching wasn’t in the game as of right now (it wasn’t working how they intended so it got removed), so I’m wondering if he’s just saying that, or did they actually put clinching back?

If Fight Night was still being made, EA would've watered it down the same way they did Madden and FIFA.

Remove features that were in Champion, just to add a lesser version of the feature they removed and sell it to us as a new feature 7 years later

They never got the mechanics down like the arcady Victorious Boxers did. If a punch land on the gloves it was either blocked or did partial damage; if your opponent walked into a punch it did more damage; rotating and moving your upper body produced different punches with different levels of damage; power from straights aren't diminished in favor of haymakers; standing 8 counts; flash knockdowns; timing based blocking and parrying; each fighter having their own style of fighting which should not be confused with stances.
That is just off memory since I haven't played it since the release of the PS4.
Even though I had fun with Fight Night, it always felt like rock 'em sock 'em robots to me and I kept going back to play Victorious Boxers.

Though I never got to play it, the Japanese only sequel had a career mode that has never been touched by any other boxing game going by depth and detail

I hope the 1.0 fixes the problems with the game because holy hell, I want to enjoy Undisputed, but the bugs and bare bones of the game just kills the vibes. Bad enough the boxers look like they are hitting pillows.

If you were to have a way to play it on a modded PS2/PS3/PC, I'd create an iso to give it to you somehow. I use Google translate to assist whenever I play but yeah, especially if you follow the manga, so ahead of it's time.
