No one is going to miss Zach. Long form articles especially sports have been dead for a long time and he didn't really bring anything to ESPN TV. ESPN got enough white NBA analysts that do what Zach does and more. Tim Legler does play by play and has a prime spot on the Van Pelt Sportscenter after every ESPN/ABC game. Windhorst drives interest and does every major show regularly (Get Up, FT, SC, NBA Today). Bontemps actually reports from games and does TV.
He had arguably the most popular podcast on their network

His podcast is posted to the NBA on ESPN YouTube Channel.

ESPN probably owns it
the only 2 pods according to Apple that chart higher are

1. Pat McAfee (which is just the audio version of the show they play)
2. ESPN Fantasy Football Focus.

Keep in mind, media day starts next week and Lowe was off til a couple of weeks ago,

That's wild, but he probably will have to start over if ESPN owns it. JJ went through the same thing when he left Yahoo and I believe the Ringer early on.

Going off his recent interview with JJ earlier this week, he mentioned how ESPN was telling him he needed clearance to go on JJ's pod last season. I remember SAS talking about how he couldn't even use his name in a podcast show until after his last contract was up or something. ESPN seems to own all that stuff by default unless the talent negotiates otherwise

That's the difference between Ryan Clark, Shannon productions outside of ESPN, as well as JJ's while he was on the Network.

Damn I'm literally listening to the Sept 24th Zach Lowe Podcast right now as I see this
Layoffs are a normal part of business but it has to hurt extra hard when everybody in your lane has salary transparency
Like I literally know somebody made the decision to bush me to go give somebody else a raise/bonus :mjcry:
