Cotto went independent 2 years ago, and it was the best decision he ever made. He got a fight with Floyd, has a fight with Sergio, and could have a fight with Canelo or even a rematch with Floyd. Dude is making bank, getting big fights, and is able to work with both Top Rank & Golden Boy, and fight on both HBO & Showtime. He's the real winner of this Cold War.

EVERYONE HAS OVERLOOKED THE POSSIBILITY THAT PACQUIAO MAY BE TRYING TO START A BIDDING WAR BETWEEN TOP RANK AND GOLDEN BOY TO GET THE BEST DEAL POSSIBLE.

But if I was Richard Schaefer, I would be throwing everything and the kitchen sink at Pacquiao to make him jump ship because Golden Boy hold the keys to a Mayweather Pacquiao megafight and not Top Rank. They need to give Pac a way way better deal than what Arum is offering him. OPPORTUNITY ONLY KNOCKS ONCE.

Considering 2 of the top 3 money makers in the sport are calling their own shots and at least for Cotto can work with both Golden Boy and Top Rank, what's really holding Manny back from calling his own shots? I have no doubt the extension is going to help Manny with his financial issues, but damn we're gonna see a close to 40 year old Manny potentially still fighting?

While I do agree with Konz that Floyd 2 years ago wasn't making that big of an issue to work with Arum, I also think Manny should call Floyd's bluff and give him the ultimatum:

"I have a contract extension I can sign right now or we fight in May?"

That would be the ultimate bluff caller on Manny's part. But I think before his next fight an extension will be signed. Even if he goes to 140, besides Provodnikov, who else does Top Rank have that he can fight?
