Too much of trying to keep up with the Joneses and not enough emphasis on the product, which is sports and sports reporting.

They got caught up in the hype. ESPiN beyond live games and 30 for 30s is tough to stomach. A lot of bias or PC and it dilutes the product.

They drifted too much into the Stuart Scott lane and they got corny REAL fast. It actually used to be decent to watch SC back in the day and hear Stuart (before he became a caricature of himself) say something you'd hear they homies say. Or weave in pop culture into the highlights, now it seems so contrived and forced. I like Mike and Jemele but look at the 6 pm SC, the calling it "the 6" is lightweight :scust: :snoop: and indicative of what I'm saying

ESPN is hurting Disney's overall profit with the money its losing.
I wouldn't be surprised if Disney spins them off and tries to sell them.
I don't see it. Why would they look to sell low right now when it clearly is losing value and appears to have no immediate strategy to adjust to the industry? That and you only do a spin-off if the specific business is generally making money, not losing. Disney is making so much money in other ways and shareholders are fine with the returns so they will just keep cutting costs until they get to the right margins and then renegotiate the NBA deal.

They would sell because the network is driving the total value of a successful company lower.
ESPN’s new NBA contract lowers value of Disney stock

Sometimes you spin off divisions to sell, Sears did this to craftsman brand, IBM did it for Logitech, Lexmark, and sold its hardware manufacturing to lenovo.
When you see the end for a division its not strange to try to divest yourself of the loser.

I don't think anyone is happy that people are losing their jobs, but business doesn't exist for people to have jobs, it exists to provide service for customers and its clear ESPN is no longer providing a needed service and they have over spent on a outdated business model based on faulty assumptions.

i'm working from home today and turned on NFL Live, they're fukking reporting on russell wilson's meal plan...:deadmanny:

and they wonder why no one gives a fukk about losing their channels when cutting the cord. and why the fukk is this show 90 minutes now? :awlnah:

To keep it 100 I don't think sports was meant to be an all day thing, it's just entertainment. ESPN was a fad and is getting revealed as such, people got sh*t to do :manny:
