For me.. you can inter change 1 - 3 with Shaq, Duncan and AI depending on who you like more, but those are the only correct choices for 1-3 period.

Lebron has been playing long enough to be ranked with those guys. He's certainly above AI. LeBron is a better than AI in pretty much every facet of basketball outside of FT shooting.

Lebron offense aint seeing AI offense bruh... Defense yeah but offense ? You cant honestly say Lebron offensivly is ever seeing AI offensively ?? At least give AI scoring over Lebron

1. Duncan
2. Robinson
3. Iverson
4. LeBron
5. Ewing

The rest didn't play for their originally drafted teams long enough. I see Rosw likely playing out his prime in Chicago so he'll probably get higher on this list as time goes by.

If I was just going by the best player

1. LeBron
2. Shaq
3. Duncan
4. Robinson
5. Ewing

Why does that list say '85 and the thread title say '92 though? :dwillhuh:

If I was just going by the best player

1. LeBron
2. Shaq
3. Duncan
4. Robinson
5. Ewing

so now Lebron is better than Duncan/ AI / Shaq :what: worst list ive ever seen in my life you have to be 14 at the very most.. AI is the ONLY debatable one to Lebron, you have to be a cot damn idiot to think Lebron is better than duncan and Shaq

LeBron could score just as many points as AI did if he needed too. He does more than just score points on offense though.

Only players seeing LeBron in the past 20 years are Jordan and Kobe imo. I wouldn't argue anybody putting Shaq or Duncan above him though.

there are too many people putting in here putting a spin on it.

I think the best way to decide this is what kind of impact the player had on the franchise. Yes that includes even what the team that drafted the guy got in return if they are traded. This takes Shaq out of the top 5 for me, the Magic were fukking terrible after he left.

Now that I think about this, this is a pretty tough list to come up with...it shows how the #1 pick has not kept teams relevant for long.

#1 is Duncan - I don't think this can really be debated. He won 4 titles and in 3 of them he was absolutely dominant. The 2003 and 2005 titles were very impressive to me as Robinson was on his last legs in 2003 and the rest of the team were up and comers.

#2 is David Robinson - Kept the Spurs relevant for a long time before Duncan got there. MVP awards, defensive monster (outside of when Hakeem got him). I think he was better than Ewing...both had long runs in where they were the focal points of the organization and delivered year after year.

#3 is Ewing - Team was shyt before him, was shyt after him. In fact, the Knicks have been such a shytty franchise that they are basically the clippers east outside of Ewing. Yes, they have been that fukking horrible. All those deep playoff runs, helped them reach 2 NBA Finals...got shytted on by Hakeem in 94 and was hurt in 99. If his 2nd best player was better than John Starks for the majority of his career he probably gets passed the bulls one of those seasons in the early-mid 90's

#4 is Iverson- 11 years in Philly, deep playoff runs. Classic games, NBA finals run, MVP, all the personal awards and shyt...definitely a beast and made Philly relevant. Never had a solid team around him, but thats party due to his style of play.

#5 is LeBron - 8 Years in Cleveland. 7 Playoff runs, couple of them deep...got swept in the finals. Many personal awards and made that shytty franchise relevant for the first time in my lifetime. Yeah he shytted on Cleveland, but hey...he was feeling the pressure for that ring and could not get stars to sign over there with him.

Outside looking in is SHAQ and Howard.

Obviously this is not a "best player" discussion, that shyt is a crap shoot at the start. It's about how he helped the franchise. It's amazing that since 1985 Howard is 5th IMO

You say people are putting a spin on it then you turn right around and put a spin on it. :pachaha: It says best OVERALL #1 draft pick...not best #1 draft pick that helped their initial franchise the most.

isn't that the point of picking a player? To Help YOUR TEAM? What good is it if I drafted Michael Jordan with the first pick and he gets up to bounce on another squad? That makes my "pick" garbage because I did not build the squad around the player and won championships or had an extended run of dominance.

why are so many people confusing the question? the "best player to be picked first" and the "best first pick" are 2 different questions. as already said, the former is individual merit, the latter is the return the team received from the pick. this asked "best #1 pick" , which is completely different from asking "who is the best player that was drafted #1." on what planet is shaqs 4 years in orlando better than what the knicks got out of ewing? what the sixers got out of iverson? what the spurs got out of duncan/the admiral?

I forgot about The Admiral :snoop:

Put Robinson @ #2, drop Ewing to #3, drop LeBron to 4, drop Iverson to 5. Howard misses the cut.

Ewing and Robinson are interchangeable to me, Ewing on the knicks were never bad enough to get a top pick like Duncan. Even tho till this day I think that was a strategic move by the spurs organization (Robinson was hurt that year I believe as well...cant remember)

2.Shaq
3.Lebron
4.The Admiral
5.Ewing

lol @ AI being in anyones top 5. The number of all star games he's been voted into is more than twice the number of playoff series he's won.

You put Shaq @ #2 where he spent about 25% of his playing career and had no value to the franchise after he left.

I don't have anything with me right now as far as Iverson is concerned, but he definitely did more than Shaq I can tell you that. Instead of just putting names on a list, can you at least expand on why you put them in the order you did?
