Normally I'd agree but Professor was smart :troll:

Seriously though. Remember him going viral with all those Spiderman at the park vids?? That wasn't some WSHH shyt. He had a real youtube series doing that, getting millions of views. Then it got on ESPN. He was also one of the first to turn to "coaching." A lot of these IG coaches got that idea off him. He was putting out dribbling "classes" on youtube a decade ago. And was putting up clips and vids of him balling and then follow it up with how to do it.

Those other guys never thought to do any of that shyt. All they needed was a camera and a computer. Hell, they still ain't doing it now and it's 2022.
Yea that’s true, part of it is them not doing it, but it’s still annoying to see him and so many dribble and shooting coaches are white.

I think black folk are so consumed with the talent aspect and making it, while white folk have that luxury to not NEED to make it so they are always ready to attack the auxiliary aspects that have more longevity. Whether it’s in music with production or management as opposed to rapping, or coaching instead of playing, etc

Finally watched. Man this is comically short at under an hour. You could legit do a 3,4 part series on this. It was such a vital part of not only hoops but the overall culture. Specifically the volume 1-3 years. It’s one of the last things that was part of the culture that was OURS, underground. The internet and mainstream rap coincided with the and 1 mixtapes rise. By 2003, 2004 there was no such thing as underground. So those first couple were like lighting

Some random thoughts:

-MOST guys couldn’t make the league but a couple could. 3 to be exact. AO played D2, was 6’3, and was cerebral and had a pro game even in streetball. He could have been a backup PG. Same for Headache. But Alimoe is the one tho who sadly didn’t get any mentions. 6’7 with the handles and a jumper. His game was beautiful. RIP

-Just looked up Hot Sauce he has 30k followers and no blue check. Most these guys have less than 10k and basically aren’t profiting off their name. Meanwhile the professor has a blue check and 4M followers. Typical story
Kenny Smith was just on All The Smoke & said Alimoe was better than Skip..They both had bus tickets to Fresno but he cashed his in for money..He didn't want to leave the hood

Damn. Yea that story sounds familiar. I remember on the reality show the reoccurring theme on Alimoe was that he just loved the hood and took all shortcuts

Finally was able to view this doc. The first half of it was really dope, but dramatically fell off during the second half. This should have been a two part documentary. They barely went in depth about the merch side of the brand and how popular the shoes and apparel was.
Agreed. I finally watched it too.
The second half comes off like they spent the entire budget on the first half. The second half really served no purpose.

Still great to reminiscence about the Tour and just how big it was in the culture.

During that era if Hot Sauce and Tim Duncan both showed up on the block, more people are asking for Hot Sauce’s autograph than Duncan.

You should watch the new documentary on netflix. Way better than the espn one.

Agreed- just saw it and much better explanation of what happened to the tour and its players.

Now it just looks like ESPN wanted to beat Netflix to the doc series and just rushed the ending to make sure they were first to hit the market

I felt like ESPN was trying to do the owners of And1 a solid by not trashing them since ESPN did make a bunch of money off the brand. Also the Netflix doc went more in depth with the NBA players wearing the shoes.
