Isn’t Harmon essentially their promoter? Seems like he uses dibella and the other guy as a proxy for legal reasons. They even created pbc which is essentially a promotional outfit. Seems like semantics to me

People say this fight by fight free agent thing is good while ignoring the obvious risk of that in a sport like boxing where any one fight can change the course of ur career. Remember kid chocolate? Harmon fighter who,got ktfo and ain’t been on a major card since. I’m sure a multiple fight guarantee would have been lovely to him right now

first of all his name is HAYMON...

that's Mr. Haymon to you

second..he is a MANAGER/ADVISOR..nothing more nothing less

it has already been established by the courts when Bob Arum and De La Hoya bought forth thier frivolous lawsuit trying to insuiate the same assertion that you are claiming that Haymon uses various promotors as a proxy in a deceptive manner to not only have a leverage over rival promoters but also to exploit the boxers as defined under the Muhammad Ali Boxing Act..

this is false...and damn thier slanderous.........

MR. HAYMON has been extermely liberal in letting fighters not only conduct business with other promoters but be thier own promoter themselves.....

they have an enourmous amount of leverage as being thier OWN BOSS...

as ERROL stated its a beautiful thing to have a manager like Haymon ask a fighter ..."DO YOU WANNA FIGHT THIS GUY?" and "WHEN"? and "WHERE"?

and make it happen at the boxers conveience..... As opposed to having some slave master promoter DICTATE YOUR EVERY MOVE inside and outside the ring for a long period of time..

that's the OLD DAYS...the NEW WAVE as spence has stated is letting the BOXER become empowered to make his own decisons..cause after all HE IS THE ONE TAKING THE RISKS!

that was the same case with KID CHOCOLATE...he REQUESTED to take that time off from that mandatory defense of his belt as well as cherry pick his fights the same with MAYWEATHER...

HAYMON isn't putting a gun to these boxers head and telling them what to do......

HAYMON AS A MANAGER SUPPOSE TO DO SIMPLY WORKS FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT'S IT END OF STORY

If he keeps winning..preferably by KO, he's right. He'll be must see and can call his own shot.
He can keep winning and people still may not give a fukk about him. Unless he’s planning on opening his personality in the near future Spence is probably going to end up missing out on some money during his career.

I think Errol is scared of getting robbed by these promoters, as he should be.

Floyd wasn't a big name outside of boxing circles until he left Arum and started up Mayweather promotions:camby:

His fights against Corrales and Castillo were before that.. The DLH fight put him over the top because he played the bad guy..

Is this nikka serious? Floyd was like Lomachenko status in terms of popularity before he dropped Arum :dahell:

Floyd was on PPV before he dropped arum and the DLH fight was under Golden Boy promotions.. Floyd became popular BEFORE Mayweather promotions.

Right. Floyd was very popular to boxing fans before he cut ties with Top Rank. He became a mega star outside the sport once he cut the deadweight and promoted himself.

The thing is not everybody needs a promoter but Spence CLEARLY does.
I don't see how he clearly needs one with the trajectory he's on right now. He just sold out in his hometown after just putting 12k in the seats at Barclay's in January, which is a great number for boxing. Other than the layoff after the Kell Brook fight(and that was partly due to the IBF not having a mandatory challenger lined up) PBC/Haymon has been making all the right moves with him. He appeared on the very first PBC/NBC show on a Thurman undercard, headlined an PBC/NBC show in BK against a NY fighter, and then he appeared on NBC immediately following the gold medal basketball game and got like 6M viewers as a carry over effect. I really don't see what Arum or De La Hoya could be doing different, when TCraw fights outside of his hometown he hasn't proved to be a draw, the Horn fight only drew 8k(Arum also sabotaged him by sticking him on a bullshyt app) and when he's fought in NY, Arum's dinosaur ass has stuck him in the theater for less than 10k. I think Spence is right about where he should be and will only get bigger with more activity like he's planning out now.

That's my whole point. You sign a small deal for promotion to become popular and once you're in demand you go solo like Floyd.

I hear what some of you are saying but its not cut and dry. Floyd was a boxing superstar before dumping Arum. He was making at least $8 million per fight and most casuals were saying he was boring. DLH fight crossed him over into a MEGA star and he never looked back.

so comparing Spence to Canelo isnt a fair assessment because Canelo has a built in fan base. He was hype more off of him being Mexican than his skills whereas Spence has to be hyped off skills alone.

at the same time, I agree, Spence needs promoter to a degree. in any business, marketing and promotion is important. he can form his own promotional outfit and he would still work with local promoters and major ones. He doesnt need to sign with Arum, GBP, etc...but he has to work with them to a degree if he WANTS to become a bigger star.
