no telling if the 1000 rapes actually happened.... I know people get raped. not saying they dont but it's a touchy tricky situation... if a victim goes to police right away and they can get DNA evidence it would be easier to convict all the rapists.. but waiting months, sometimes years pretty much eliminates all evidence and its just a he said/she said... and even with DNA evidence sex may have been consensual... trick situation all around... maybe they should incorporate lie detector tests into rape cases

But that number is flawed, because they lump in women who actually have been raped, but misidentify their assailant because he was not known to them in that number. Also, they add in women who - for whatever reason - are pressured to drop the charges, but don't recant the statement that they were assaulted. The UK puts it more conservatively around 2% - which is, in my opinion, closer to the actual number.

2. Polygraphs are inadmissible in court for a reason. They're pure pseudoscience.
